Our new office opened up across the road from this wee place and I’m sure the lovely ladies got quite a shock when e all descended on this wee café one afternoon(30 of us), and I’m also sure that upon hearing we would more than likely be in most days, they thought Christmas had well and truly come early! They offer loads of lovely traditional food, sandwiches and great fry ups! We would always be in for a sarni, which were always fresh and made with a smile! The tea, I must say, is really great, and really cheap too, much like all the rest of the food. It might not look like much but Pauls Café is certainly up there with the bast of em!

Strolling down into town early one cold morning I felt the need for heat and caffeine. I’ve passed Paul’s a hundred times before but this time the smell of frying bacon and the promise of warmth lured me in. The café had a couple of old soaks tucking into a huge looking Ulster Fry and the two ladies behind the counter greeted me like a long lost relative with plenty of «How’s about ye?» and banter. Eschewing the ‘bellybuster’ breakfast at £6 I went for a simple white coffee which set me back all of 75p. Good stuff! I headed back into the cold but will definitely return to sample some of the food selection. Pros: Cheap Cons: Limited menu

Paul’s Café on Donegall Street does a very good trade. Two of the largest News Papers in Northern Ireland are just down the street and come lunch time, Paul’s does its best to fill each and everyone of their employee’s bellies. There are also a large number of smaller businesses around the area that take advantage of Paul’s convenient location. On my trip to Paul’s it was a horrible, rainy day outside and I was cold and in a rubbish mood. Their rustic tomato soup made a very good effort in warming my cold bones and cheering me up. It was really quite cheap, my soup and coffee came to below £4 and no one can complain about those prices. The lady behind the counter was pleasant and very social with all her locals. A very nice, quiet place to grab a bite, as long as you make sure not to be around at lunch time for the papers!
