This shop is very handy for me to nip into on the way to or from work, to buy lunch or to pick up a few bits to bring home. The shop is small but has a good selection of goods — fresh sandwiches, drinks, crisps, confectionary, tinned goods, noodles and similar items, fresh meals, pies, sauces, bread items, magazines, and so on. You can often get good offers or find items that you won’t see in many other places, which is good. There is also a hot deli counter and ice cream section. A cash machine is available in store. A good wee corner shop to pick up a few items or get your lunch on your way into work.

I’m not going to give a corner shop a rave review but there are a few good things about this one — firstly it has a free to withdraw cash machine on the premises –not many places can boast about that these days what with the banking crooks trying to bleed us dry of our own hard earned cash. It is the perfect place to drop in an pick up your drinking money for the night as it is near Ryan and Hunters. Secondly, it sell Maud’s ice cream in pokes — convenient, on the go pooh bear! — nuff said! Thirdly and lastly it has a hot deli counter which is one of the only ones I know that still has a range of goodies available well after lunch time — that may seem trivial but as a girl who does partake in a corner shop sausage roll now and again I do know that by two o’clock you will usually just find a lonely, slightly damaged looking jambon — this mace has a great selection of sausage rolls, pies and cheesy things into the afternoon. Other than that it is a corner shop like any other.

Mace is a corner shop quite close to my house. There are lots of Mace’s all over Nothern Ireland. This one in particular annoys me. It just seems really half baked. It’s shelves always seem half filled to me. They stock very little unless your looking for a tin of juice then your fine. There isn’t even a proper place to put down your items at the tills, you have to sort of balance them on this little ledge so that the cashier can take them. I’m sure its as inconvenient for them as it is for me. One saving grace is that it has a Maud’s ice cream counter which is always welcome on a hot summers day.

Difficult to get too excited about a corner shop but I do admire this place for having a good range of American soft drinks not found as readily as I’d like. I’ve been here many a time between a few drinks and food in the local bars(I really only mean Ryan’s Bar and Grill because Hunters or whatever other guise it’s going under at the moment is not a good place to be) The prices are typical of shops in the area. They have a good range of snacks, coffee as well as a selection of hot food(although it generally is all gone by late afternoon)
