A Belfast fry at it’s best, with decent, down to earth service. Helen’s has fast become a university ‘local’, with many students making use of their ‘fry up’ after a heavy night out. It’s sure to be packed after any big night such as Hallowe’en or end of term so you’re best avoiding the bakery at these times if you want a quiet lunch. The warm hearted staff are somewhat motherly to the usual suspects hiding behind their hot mugs of tea. A top tip though is to have change as sometimes handing over notes can cause a bit of a wait if the bakery has been busy. The bakery’s location on the Ormeau Road means that you can park down any of the side streets or in the univeristy area and walk a few minutes before arriving at the front door. However, If you’re not a fan of big breakfasts with a nice portioning of grease, you may want to look elsewhere…

Helens Home Bakery is really great! It’s a long established place which means it must be good to survive the strife competition of the busy Ormeau Road! They offer a huge range of cooked and cold pastries such as cakes, scones, sausage rolls and pies and they also do a mean Ulster Fry! No extra charges for toast and beans here(Graffitti). The staff are oh so friendly and the food is oh so tasty! Surely win win! So if you love yur nosh, whether you’re having a dander into town or looking for a nice fry to set you up for the day you cant go too far wrong with Helens! Bring on the cake!
