Two years on and I still feel excited that we’ve got H&M in Belfast. And I studiously ignore the cold hard fact that it arrived in time for me to be too old to wear most of the clothes. I have picked up some lovely knitwear here and I should clarify that I don’t mean sensible jumpers but cute little fluffy cardis and A/W 2010’s must have, a camel v neck. Hurrah, I can officially survive the winter now. H&M often run advertising campaigns featuring that season’s must have, and these are sometimes picked up on by the big boys like Vogue and Grazia. Of course I am sold there and then and hot foot it into Belfast to get my sweaty hands on whatever it is — last summer it was the Garden Collection and before that the Matthew Williamson collaboration. What a joy that such treasures are now available in good old Norn Iron. No, I don’t have much to worry about. Kids clothes are also with a mention as they are deemed funky enough to be worn by my high maintenance 10 year old which is high praise indeed.

This Swedish brand offers great value for money on on trend clothes. Located in the centre of town, Victoria Square, H&M offers a wide range of womens and mens clothing. The womens section offers office and casual attire on the ground floor and some more trendy pieces on the top floor. There are some great bargains to be had from an eagle eyed shopper willing to trawl through the rails. My best purchase here was a striped navy and white breton top at £12 which I have worn about a million times. A great shop to pop into if you need something cool for a night out.

Everyone knows what they are getting with H&M, I see it as one step up from Primark, better quality clothes at a higher price. I have bought a few t-shirts from H&M and they have always lasted me. I wouldn’t wear the jeans from H&M they are generally boot cut or have designer rips in them which I do not tend to like. The shop itself is large and spacious, but it is so bright and white that if you spent too long inside you would be sure to get a migraine. Fear not, they generally have a lot of staff working and it is really well run. This means that if you are going to be buying something you will be out of there in no time.

Located in a prominent location of Victoria Square, this is a really good shop if you want to pick up some fashionable threads at a pretty good price. It may not be designer labels but they stuff is good enough quality and the prices are excellent for what you get. The store itself is nice and big, with plenty of room to dander about and check out all the clothes on sale. There are sales here and there throughout the year and if you check out the sale rack you can pick up some real bargains. The staff are friendly and always serve you with a smile. I really like H&M.

This store is located as you walk into Victoria Square, and it looks very impressive. There is also another located on the main street which looks not as impressive. This shop is a favourite of women, rather than men. The fashion isn’t quite the mainstream that topshop or new look specialise in. It seems to my untrained eye this shop is directed at older people who don’t want to run about in a five pound mini skirt. It’s a classier shop, both for men and women. It is not necessarily first choice though and for that reason never seems that busy. But the clothing is nice and certainly worth a look.
