I was really pleased I took the time to go into this hidden gem of a shop. From the outside it just seems like a little jewellery shop selling fiddly pieces but inside is a tardis to home grown arts and crafts. The Empathy Creations themselves are all handmade pieces of jewellery from basic costume jewellery right up to really beautiful pieces suitable for a special occasion. they will also sit with you and plan a set to your own liking if you are looking for something they haven’t got already. The back of the shop is like a little art gallery displaying pieces of pottery, clocks and paintings by local artists — a fabulous treat right on my doorstep! I couldn’t resist buying my nephew a hand crafted jigsaw puzzle for a very decent price. Call in some day — the man behind the counter who makes the pieces is not pushy but very friendly. You will be pleasantly surprised at the treasures in store.

I don’t often buy shiny things. I’m not a magpie and I’m not particularly interested in jewellery or other such personal additions. I did however browse this little stall a week or two back, just to see if there was anything of particular interest that I was missing, and to be honest there was. I’ve had a shirt, a good shirt for the last six months which has been hanging in my wardrobe. Of course in my ignorance I didn’t realise that in a Dickensian fashion you need cuff links(I assumed buttons had taken an essential precedent by now) This little stall had a range of small, delicate sterling cuff links. Each were done in a similar style, four intersecting lines, akin to an x and o…(I really don’t know how to write this as lexicon, we’ll just use the American interpretation of tic-tac-toe) They were £45, which of sure for silver is fine but the opportunity cost is much, much to great for me. Still, nice things…
