The Lisburn Road can be pretty pricey and sometimes a little conservative for a fashion-savy lady, and for that reason alone thank goodness for Deja Vu. Selling pre-worn designer(and not so well known, ahem, designer) ladies clothes, this place is a treasure trove of joy, often with quite unusual and rare pieces, perfect for when you don’t want to turn up to your posh do with someone else in the same frock! That’s what I love about here– the individuality. Super reasonable pricing too for what you get. They do turn around a good lot of clothes here and as they are second hand they may not have a huge variety of sizes, so if you see something you like don’t dwell on it, just buy or it will be gone!

This shop is still on the go and a great place for finding designer items(used) at knock down prices. It is jam packed with worn once mother of the bride outfits. Everything is arranged in size order so you don’t have to ‘trail the rails’ and the staff will happily hoke things out that may suit you. I’m not sure about selling through them though, I think they take a heft commission but to be fair they are paying extortionate lisburn road business rates.

To me, more a second hand clothes shop than vintage which I had expected from the name — but an impressive one. It’s the place to find fairly recent but good, clothes for a lot less than you’d pay for new. There was quite a bit of everything for the well dressed woman — trousers, jackets, dresses, shoes and bags. I could easily have come home with a bag, or shoes, but there are trousers, dresses and evening clothes, had I had more time and money to spend that day. Still, I’ll be back, armed with cash — they don’t take credit cards.

I had never been in nor heard of this fabulous little shop until today. I took myself out on a stroll in the glamorous Lisburn Road(I don’t remember it being that glamorous many years ago when I was crawling home in the early hours with half a kebab all over my beck and several drunken students singing the the best of Take That!) The housing in this area is expensive and this attracts a well to do lot to the area. With well to do ladies comes lovely expensive clothing that they want to sell. And so Deja Vu was born. The shop works by a client leaving in a high end piece of clothing, shoes or accessories and then the shop sells it for them for 50% of the price. There are loads of beautiful tops, dresses and skirts from really posh designers — gorgeous. It’s like a second hand shop with a difference. They also stock mother of the bride/groom outfits that have only been worn once, originally cost hundreds, even thousands and are in perfect condition. I wish I had have had more time to browse but I didn’t — the woman who runs this place is the best sales assistant I have come across yet — lovely to chat to, no pressure, takes time, points out bargains and really seems to want to help. I’m sitting here wanting to go back for another look about. Great!

I have been a visitor to déjà vu since my student days which is longer than I care to remember or admit to here and I still keep it on my list of shops to pop into when in the area. It’s very long list. Déjà vu sells designer and high end high street gently used clothes and was the first shop in Belfast to do so. There is always a certain amount of middle age, mother of the bride type outfits but there are also plenty of more desirable little bits and pieces. My best buys have been accessories, everything from a Louis Vuitton belt to a pair of cowboy boots(don’t mock, they ALWAYS come back into fashion again). I won’t tell you exactly what I paid for them, but let’s just say that even the husband as impressed with my bargain hunting skills. This winter I also snagged the most lush faux fur coat which has been admired and stroked by all my friends. It still had the original price tag on — £200 — and I snapped it up for £60. Fabulous. If you’re more interested in selling, Deju Vu operates on a consignment basis, ie you leave your stuff in and id it sells you get a cut of the cash. You won’t make your fortune but you will get extra space in your wardrobe and a few pounds in your little old designer purse.

This place is a little gem. Selling pre-owned women’s clothes it is the perfect place to pick up a bargain. Great helpful service you will find clothes from Oasis to Karen Millen to higher end designers like Jimmy Choo. Great handbags too. Worth a visit just to browse.
