If you’re after trusty, durable shoes then Barratts is generally your best bet. It’s not quite as trendy as the likes of Office or Schuh but as a basic shoe shop it’s quite good. They sell both men’s and women’s shoes and I have often found some gorgeous shoes in here for so many different occasions. I remember usually buying my school shoes from here as my mum was convinced the lasted the longest, but since then I’ve found shoes for partying, shoes for exercise, shoes for comfort and shoes for style. It’s a great shop which offers pretty competitive prices for what’s on offer. In the men’s range there are lots of sturdy boots, comfy trainers, classy loafers and many more of the like. They also do a range of handbags as well as the vital shoe accessories e.g. polish and cleaner. A trusted high street store which caters to everyone.

I had so much praise for the discounted shoe store Shoezone, that have little left for Barratts. The shop also seems so much more overpriced than others for the quality of the goods. Problems come in a number of things such as hardly any space to sit down and try on the footwear, to limited mirrors to see the shoes and finally that smell of new shoes all over the store. Ok, ok, I may have been harsh with the new shoe smell as it is a shoe store however, it does become sickening the longer you stay in store. Some of the shoe ranges are to die for, with killer heels, strappy sandals and laid back loafers, but a hefty price tag soon has customers running for the hills. The staff will help you will feet measurements, extra sizes and varying colours and are pleasant when doing so. Basically, in conclusion, if you’ve got the money flaunt it and spend your buck, if not this might not be the shop for you.

It is hard for me to decide if Barratts shoes is a cheap type of shoe shop or is it a classy one?
It does not have labelled shoes but then again neither does Clarkes and it is considered a good shoe shop.
I am going to go with my gut in this one and sit directly on the fence. I reckon it is a bit of both, you can get a good pair of shoes in Barratts without breaking the bank. I actually got a pair of black shoes here for formal event and I still have them. I do not wear them much any more because to be brutally honest they are awful and look like they were made for 6 year olds.
The staff in Barratts are really good although on one visit I happened to be wearing odd socks and the girl made fun of me thus making me really self conscious in the shop. I mean who has time to find a pair now a days, I am lucky if they are the same colour.

Barratt shoes offer some pretty standard shoes. This store is large, bright, spacious and well stocked.
As has been said, don’t go here if you’re after high fashion, go here if you’re looking to get a pair of simple shoes to do you for work, school etc.
I did get a pair of really cool white 60’s slingbacks in Barrat’s in Dundalk before which I adore, so you may find something that catches your eye in here.
An ideal place for mothers getting their kids ready to go back to school.
Staff will always ask you if you need a hand and are really polite.
Barratts is the place to go if you want reliable simple shoes with no fuss.

This place is the place to go for school shoes or a pair of shoes for work. Basically, if you don’t care about style or labels or being a trendy dolt then Barrat Shoes will do you very well indeed.
I have been in this shop on a number of occassions and always found the staff to be helpful and friendly and polite. They’re not up themselves as can be the case in some shoe shops in town, this is probably down to this place not having the best reputation for coolness.
The prices are low, which is brilliant if you have to get a few kids suited up for school or if you just need a pair of shoes to go to work in and don’t have to worry too much about what they look like. Thats not to say they don’t look good, they’re just not high fashion.
Nothing the matter with this place at all, in fact I’d go so far as to say that I like it.
