So glad we decided to stop in here after our visit to St. Anne’s. Thankfully, it was a sunny day, so we got to enjoy our delicious bagel meals in the square nearby!

This was a bit of a blast from the past. I used to work a good bit closer to Bagel Bagel and so as a creature of habit would follow my natural inclination at weekday lunchtimes to stick to what I know is good instead of wasting my precious and all to short lunch break looking for a place to eat. Sadly I’m not that close any more with work so when I found myself close and hungry at the weekend I jumped at the chance to get one of these great baps with a hole in it. Since I was last in a good while ago the shop has been taken over by a new owner, but he has done a great job of both not altering the menu or shop style too much and instead just built on what was already good about it. Other than being done up a bit the only reason I knew the place had been taken over was I was speaking to the very friendly owner who chatted to us for a while. Both our bagels were great, a good size, well filled with premium ingredients and very tasty. A pleasant surprise was that the coffee they serve was pretty good(didn’t have espresso machine though). Not too important to most people probably but I do like a nice coffee!!! All in all it hadn’t been tainted by fond memories, it was as good, if not that little bit better than the great bagel shop I remembered it to be. So we left pretty happy!

I find that one bagel is never enough, they are just soooooooo good. To my knowledge this is Belfast’s only one hundred percent bagel focused café. Bagels are kind of new for me, I would never of had them growing up. I feel like they are maybe an american craze as they are just savory donuts. I wonder if they would ever make bagels with chocolate sprinkles or with jam in the middle… I’m not sure if I like where this is going!!! The customer service in this shop could be better but the food is almost too good to worry about any other negativities. I have been to a couple of parties too where they were catering. Let me say I was Bagel bagel, Yes please!!! don’t mind if I do, also you would mind if I had a bite of yours too???

Bagel Bagel is a great, er, bagel café! They do Bagels of all sorts with every filling you can come up with! Being a creature of habit, aren’t we all?, I always opt for a plain bagel with cream cheese and smoked bacon… mmmmm… …mmmmm. They really know hoe to get it right here! Plus, at the bargain price of only £2.80, its a pretty impressive and filling lunch! The café is proper tiny, so my fave option is to go around the corner and sit admiring the view of St Anne’s Cathedral! Weather permitting of course! Don’t miss out on this lovely place! And if you’re not a big bagel fan(no judgement) they do offer wraps and other light bites too!

You can’t beat a good little bagel for breakfast or a light lunch and Bagel Bagel offer some of the best value in the city. I adore cream cheese and black pepper on a toasted poppy seed bagel– plain yes, but it’s perfection. The staff are efficient and friendly too, which always helps! A great place to pop in on your lunch or if you’re shopping in town and feeling a little peckish. With prices in and around £2.80 for a bagel it’s a win win situation with Bagel Bagel– see what I’ve done there?!

So good they named it twice! Actually as this kind’ve thing goes this is a great little bagel joint. It’s not the biggest shop and the service can be a bit flaky but the end result more than makes up for it. Alongside the bagels they also do soup and wraps and more ‘traditional’ lunchy things but to me that kind’ve defeats the purpose of a visit here. I’ve been in a few times and I’d strongly recommend the ‘Big Blue’ which is a blue cheese/chicken sensation. It’s in a great location just over from St Anne’s Cathedral and up from a few superior watering holes so next time your in the area do check it out. Pros: Bagels! Cons: Small and a bit cramped

While I’m a real ‘Bagel-Head’, this store just wasn’t doing it for me at all. Maybe my standards are just too high, but firstly my bagel was burnt, then the filling fell out all over the place(it hadn’t been packaged properly) and staff were frankly not that nice. Not an experience I’d hope to repeat. While this place always seems to be buzzing at lunchtimes, I personally couldn’t see what the fuss was about. Plus it was exceptionally cramped; we sat in to eat our food and were constantly being annoyed by other customers having to squeeze past. Again, not enjoyable.

This is my absolute favourite place to get lunch in the city centre bar none. Seriously, I work around the corner and a big part of my decision to take the job was its proximity to Bagel: Bagel(don’t judge me). The bread is always fresh(according to their website they get all their bagels from an authentic Jewish bakery) and they have a mind-boggling choice of filled bagels on the menu. My personal fav is a San Francisco: turkey, Swiss cheese, red onion and thousand island dressing on a sesame seed bagel(I’ve just this minute finished eating one actually!), but there are loads of other combinations as well. One of the great things about the place is the price. In all the years I’ve gone there, they haven’t really increased their prices that much. A bagel that used to cost £2.50 now costs £2.80, which isn’t much of a rise over a 5 year period! Plus, the bagels are pretty substantial, so they’re excellent value for money. The only thing that may drag your opinion of the place down is the staff. They can be pretty surly at times. But they’re all great at what they do and never get anything wrong. I think I’d rather have an efficient staff who can work through a queue quickly than staff who are too busy chatting to customers to realise that some people are only out on a quick lunch break! Bagel:Bagel is definitely worth a look. Be warned though — it shuts at around 3 everyday, so don’t expect to be able to call in for a quick bagel anytime after lunch.

Bagel: Bagel is a bagel bar and delivery service situated in the Belfast’s always brilliant cathedral quarter. It offers a huge selection of fillings for their bagels and have bagels for every meal of the day. I was out with a few friends in the Duke of York(possibly Belfast’s great pub) and we took a notion for something to eat. We didn’t want to pay stacks and didn’t want to be sitting around for a long time so Bagel: Bagel was the perfect place. I got the Hugo. Roast Beef in a bagel turned out to be fantastic and I was a happy camper. Especially given the £3 price tag, I could hardly complain. After filling our bellies on these thrifty delights we got back to the Duke, ready for more important debate(mostly about how nice our bagels were) over a pint or two.

I absolutely love Bagels. So, I am a big fan of Bagel Bagel in the centre of town because it is close to plenty of other shops and bars. The staff are friendly and know what they’re doing and don’t scrimp on the fillings and portions which I always like. There are all the fillings you would expect from this type of place but with plenty of speciality ones if you’re tastes are more exotic or just fancy a change from the usual cheese and ham or what not. The price is excellent. You will be able to get a bagel with plenty of high quality fillings and get change from £3, which compared to other places in town is amazing judging by how full you will be and how nice it will taste. Top stuff.

Oh that magic word. I remember the first time I had a bagel — I really wondered where it had been all my life. I could actually eat nothing but bagels for the rest of my days, but then of course they would have to roll me out of the house one day… Their ‘San Fransisco’ bagel is really yum. It’s got turkey, red onion and thousand island dressing. And even their straightforward fillings like bacon and cream cheese are tasty because they don’t scrimp on the fillings, and you do get value for money — most bagels are around the £2.60 mark. We ordered in from this place once, and their platters are great too — lots of choice and sandwiches also. They also offer soup, but I have never tried it — why go past the Bagel option? Madness. It’s really handy if you work in the town for a nice lunchtime treat. Oh Bagel Bagel, you give me so much joy *tear
