I like b&q because I know exactly what I’m looking for before I go in and I know the layout of the store with being in there quite often, it doesn’t change much which I think is a good thing. The staff definitely don’t pounce on you when you go in which always puts me off spending money anywhere. The garden centre is towards the right hand side as you go in and you could overlook it, of the diy stores it does have a much bigger range of products than Homebase, their website is a bit of a headache to use and needs a lot of work to make it quicker and easier to compare prices before you visit the store.

Everyone sort of inked that they are getting with B&Q but this store is a little different from their other smaller shops. I suppose you could call this their flagship shop. The highlight features include; a huge car park, a tradesman’s entrance and merchants yard as well as self service check outs. I find this store easy to navigate but others might. My tip is that you should look up to the warehouse ceiling where all the isles are marked by category. Good shop, very handy when decorating or completing DIY. Easy to get to from both Belfast and Bangor.

Deciding the living room needed a revamp, I headed down to B&Q with my Dad(so I could avail of his pensioner discount). I had a vague idea of what I needed, but the service I received was second to none. A young guy Paul seemed to be king of the paint. He lept to help me lift things into the trolley without being asked, and as we went round to the fun bit where you can mix the colours, there he was again. Once more, without being asked, he shared an amazing wealth of knowledge of the paint, the finish, the coverage, and avoiding the hard sell you get in some places, he tried to ensure I didn’t buy more than I needed. He made what could have been a boring chore into a pleasant experience(as did the lady at the tills) and after this I wouldn’t consider going to anywhere else. Bravo B&Q.

When I want to feel really manly I head down to the local B&Q which is located about 5 minutes from Belfast City Airport. On my most recent visit I was buying a shower curtain(not manly I know) for the new pad although I still looked longingly at the power tools as I wheeled my basket through the isles(once again not very manly). Although B&Q is a chain and you pretty much know what you’re getting, this one has a few standout features. A huge car park so you can maneuver your potentially large items back to your car without worrying about scraping parked vehicles. The staff in this particular branch have a good sense of humor and they are really helpful. One orange apron clad staff member showed me all the way to the shower curtains. This place is so big there’s no point in finding something yourself, may as well ask the people who know. One thing that is a bit strange about this B&Q is that they have those self service checkout machines which are okay when you are buying a tin of paint or a light bulb but they don’t make much sense when you are buying a 6ft panel of MDF and you are awkwardly trying to place it in the bagging area. They also have one staff member dedicated to looking after these machines but surely he would be better on a till? That’s my only minor gripe about B&Q — really good facility and handy for both tradesmen and the general public.

It’s hard to not like a store that is this big and sells chainsaws. Not that I’m in anyway inclined to use or have ever used a chainsaw or chainsaws, but there is something undeniably ‘cool’ about something that can cut down a tree… or is it just me? I called down to this store a few months back after pre-ordering a garden bench for my mother, A rather nicely furnished and simply stained bench if I must say so myself. The staff are more than helpful and always seem to pride themselves on their customer service. I did ask one of them however that I was looking for a blowtorch, and explained it was for dousing the top of crème brules and other such things. The torch I left with is still sitting in my cupboard as it’s a little big and boisterous for a kitchen environment… I’ve since found there is actually a range of ‘cooking torches’… I am silly.

B and Q offer a great service. Staff in this store are particularly helpful and there are always loads of staff around to help you. You know what B and Q sell, they’re all the same but the great thing about them is that you get everything you could need for your house and garden under one roof. This store is pretty well laid out and there are some great special offers.

B and Q as a child was one of the only stores I loved going to as a child. I used to play hide and seek with my sisters and get away with it because it was actually big enough and had enough places to hide without my parents even catching me. As I’ve matured the application of B and Q has remarkably changed and I find myself visiting this store more to get the things I need for my house and less to fun around and hide in the mock kitchen cupboards. It is a good store because it has everything under one roof, household items, gardening, DIY and decoration. It maybe isn’t the best quality or price but is for sure the most renowned and most convenient place to get all of these items. Every B and Q store has a different layout but most only take a few minutes to get accustomed too. This one imparticular is my favorite because it is so handy because it is never that busy and always has little paint deals on offer.
