Belle & Jerome

Lovely breakfast, relaxing atmosphere even though they were busy! I thought the menu was small and could do with modernising. Would like to go again and see what it’s like in the evening

Unilocal came to the rescue when my sister and I were visiting a friend in Nottingham. A quick consultation on my iPhone and we were soon driving to Belle & Jerome for dinner.
On walking in, I was initially worried because it seemed to be a jack of all trades, serving everything from breakfast to cocktails and every meal in between. However, the menu had looked promising and we were seated promptly by our waitress, who also pointed out the specials board — this allayed some of my fears by appearing to have a proper kitchen.
For starters, we shared a baked camembert, which arrived with fresh baked bread. The cheese had been properly melted, unlike some places which leave the centre still solid.
For mains, the portions were huge or maybe I’m just a wimpy southerner! I had ham hock. Sis had lamb cutlets and our friend had the smoke mackarel. Everything was lovely, well-​cooked and well seasoned.
Then, I set the kitchen my personal challenge by ordering the panna cota to share for dessert. I knew it was good from the moment the waitress put it on the table and it wobbled properly.

Arrived here on a Sunday with little sleep from the night before. Although it had been months, I was in desperate need of my coffee fix.
Open at 9AM on Sunday (sad face– as FEW places would be on a Sunday) Belle & Jerome was worth the wait. Ordered me a kettle of tea, and sipped on his hot chocolate. which then I said «I should have ordered THAT»
The scones and clotted cream looked delicious, but had gone with the appetizer soup of the day, which was a generous portion and can be a meal on its own or shared. Great place to spend a Sunday morning. lounge round, relax and people watch.

Belle & Jerome, Beeston, is one of my favourite local restaurants — so much so I had a dinner for 50 friends there in the summer. The food and service were superb and we had a great evening.
