I went to TGI fridays in Bath, which I have been to before on several occassions, and have enjoyed the value for money tasty American styled fast food. It is rumoured that this franchise is owned by or shares the same parent company as Burger king, however I am yet to come across concrete evidence to support this… Anyway — back to the review. I ordered the Philly cheese steak, as I am yet to experience the legendary culinary cuisine native to city of brotherly love. On this occasion I was disappointed with my Philly cheese steak, when it came out, due to the visable blood on the meat, which resembled steak tartar as oppose to a finely chopped and well cooked Philly cheese steak. I complained to the manager and asked for a full refund and the manager said«you cant send food back because you don’t like the way it looks when it comes out»… I asserted that I have every right to send food back and not be expected to pay for food that looks inedible. So once she realised that I(the customer) was in fact right, with a grumpy face, she charged me for my drink and starter course(which was bruschetta — not hard to get wrong) and then added«do you want to take the philly cheese stake in a doggy bag» this is when i made it clear that i wanted my money back and i wasnt interested in eating the *literally* bloody cheese stake — In addition to the blood-steak, another observation I made was that ;either due to lack of staff or laziness on the present staff members behalves, I felt like i would have to raise my hand to be seen to for anything i. e mayo, drink and I sensed that the staff just did not enough care and lacked attentiveness, so I conclude that TGI in Bath will never see my pound again if you want ribs, I reccomend go to Grillstock next to the train station, and if you want a burger, go to Manhattans Burgers, which is 2 mins away from the rear entrance to the train station. And if you want a real deal Philly Cheese Steak — go to Philadelphia, or alternatively check out recipe’s and methods on YouTube on how to make a Philly Cheese Steak… All the best to all my Philly Cheese Steak hunters!

No, no, no, I really don’t like these pseudo American diners. For starters, American food is horrifically bad — calorie intensive, absolutely bland and served in such large portions that you can easiiy become a statistic within a week — so why the hell do they pop up all over England, with it’s far superior food and European culinary influence? Money, it’s sad to say. However, here’s a way of cheating the Americans at their own game. What you do is go in and get a drink and a starter(right before a movie or something at the nearby Odeon, to get the juices going before your popcorn), then leave. That’s it — you’ve just cost the company money, as I have it on good authority that you have to spend in the region of £12 before any such profit is made. Try it some day. They won’t like it.

I’ve been to this TGI Friday twice; each time not by choice. The first time we missed a showing at the Odeon Cinema next door and had a couple of hours to kill. The second time was for a work’s Christmas party. Even though it is unashamedly tacky, and full of phoney Americana paraphernalia I have to admit that I’ve quite enjoyed the experience! The food is a bit on the boring side, a bit limited for vegetarians like myself, but perfectly nice. And the cocktails are calorific but extremely yummy. This particular TGI’s attracts a lot of families as it’s an easy place to eat at before the cinema, so if you’re not kiddie friendly it’s not the place for you. But if you like friendly service, decent food and a noisy atmosphere — this is the place for you!
