Our coach tour pulled into Bath giving us just three hours to see the sights and grab some food. Instead of trying to crowd into one of the busy tourist restaurants next to the Roman Baths we decided to take a short stroll and check out Aqua and are we so happy that we did. Truth be told the 2 for 1 bellini special is what attracted us but the food is what kept us there. We took advantage of the 3 course set menu and it was perfect. I started with bruscetta while my hubby had the soup, both were excellent. I upgraded my pre set to the rump roast while hubby had the pork chop. Both were cooked correctly and flavorful, we both had the Panna cotta for dessert and it was tasty as well. While we didn’t try the ala carte menu, we did pay attention to all all of the dishes coming out of the kitchen and they all looked expertly prepared. We would definately go back.

Delicious food and superb service. The menu is extensive with a range of prices for any budget. The waiters and waitresses were kind and friendly. Definitely recommend this place!

Unfortunately I can´t see the other critiques at the moment but I can´t understand the average Aqua has received so far. I have lived in Bath for a year and went to Aqua probably 15 times with my boyfriend, because we absolutely loved it! The whole menu was amazing! Especially the lamb! I also had several pasta dishes, pizza as well as other fish and meat dishes and we always had a great culinary experience! In other restaurants in Bath I often felt like the food looked amazing but the taste couldn´t keep up. Not at Aqua, even the side dishes, for instance a herb pasta that comes with a stuffed chicken, was simply amazing! The whine menu also never disappointed! The service was mostly friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is very pretty, something special but cosy at the same time. Just try to make sure to get a table upstairs when you order one, it can get quite busy on the weekends and I never liked sitting downstairs because you miss the nice interior. I absolutely recommend and miss it!

Does not justify its price. Food is so so, service is poor.

Food was very good, the starter was not complete but was corrected ok. Attention to detail is needed for the price that is charged

Gotta be frank about the Aqua chain– standard home Italian food at a highly price. I wouldn’t recomend this place to my worst enemy.

Dined at Aqua last night, fourth or fifth visit. Got there at 7.00pm and we were shown straight to a table, filled up a lot while we were there. Food still consistently good. Gamberoni all’aglio starter looked spectacular, calves liver for main course really well cooked and beautifully served. Waiter very attentive doing the hard sell on nibbles to start, bottled water etc but no bad thing.

We came here for our christmas party last week, and even though it wasnt all italian, it was a good night with good food. The starters were’nt great but the everyone enjoyed the mains, and my panecotta was delicious. You could do a lot worse. The service was great even though there were quite a few of us. Ill be going again soon to try out the usual menu.

The food, atmosphere and building are great. We are locals and have been here as a couple, as a family of four and in groups(6 and 8 people). Unfortunately, we have given up on the place because in our experience the service has not coped with us as a group in the evening(and we are well-behaved, undemanding adults!). On the last occasion we got 6 out of 8 main courses, 3 out of 4 desserts, none of the coffees we ordered… and not only were we were charged for the things we had ordered but hadn’t received, but we were charged for water we hadn’t ordered! The bill was amended, but no apology given or token gesture made to make us feel appreciated as customers. It is a great shame because the food is good and the building is glorious. Bath has so many good restaurants and when you are spoilt for choice there’s little incentive to give a place(yet) another try if things go badly!

This Italian restaurant on Walcott Street is tremendously popular — and rightfully so. The setting is brilliant, with its high ceiling, chandelier lighting and stained glass windows. The food is equally excellent, however the one gripe I have with the place is that it can take absolutely ages to be seated — even if you’ve made a reservation. On one occasion when I visited with my girlfriend, we had a booking and still had to hang around for about half an hour before we got to our table and there wasn’t even room to kill time at the bar! It was a Saturday night, though, so I advise you to steer clear during peak times and visit on a weekday to ensure that your experience isn’t tainted by a whole lot of waiting around.

I went with a friend. Our first course was promptly served, and was excellent. Then my main course was served, but my friend’s main course of a fish special was not. It was many minutes before her main course arrived, by which time my meal was not as hot as it should have been. But we said nothing. After taking a few mouthfuls of her fish, my friend found that the thickest part was raw! She alerted the staff, and the manager took the dish back to the kitchen. I continued to have a few mouthfuls of my risotto, but felt extremely uncomfortable eating whilst my friend had nothing in front of her, so stopped eating to await the return of my friend’s meal. After a few minutes, the waitress apologised to my friend, saying her meal would not be long. By the time my friend’s fish came back, my meal was stone cold. I pointed out to the waitress that I had not eaten my meal because of my friend’s fish, as I did not want to eat separately from her. She went and spoke to the manager, came back and said that we will deduct the cost of one of your main courses. So, I ate just a salad while my friend ate her fish. The manager did not once apologise to me for the inconvenience caused to me, in fact she never even spoke to me at all. When we got the bill the cost of my friend’s fish, which she had eaten, was deducted, but the price of my risotto, which I had not eaten remained on the bill. We paid and left. I was ignored and disadvantaged over this meal. The chef should know how long to cook a piece of fish, but once the error was brought to the staff attention, the situation was mishandled. No-one offered keep my meal warm pending my friend’s being recooked. The manager not say a word to me, even though I had told the waitress my meal was also ruined by being cold by the time the fish reappeared. I know she went straight to the manager and told her.

This is a fantastic italian restaurent in Bath. The Pasta is glorious and the wine great. The building is great, with the dinning room located in an old church(see pictures). Strong recommendation!
