My first British pub experienced turned out to be great! We were walking around looking for a pub to have dinner and an ale and we heard the loud commotion coming from Bakers Arms. England was in a World Cup consolation match against Costa Rica. Not a huge crowd but it seemed to have more energy and people than a pub right next door. Ordering was a bit tough initially to figure out… but I went up to the bar and ordered both food and our drinks. It was a bit loud with the game on that it made it hard to hear what the bartender was asking me. That said, we both had fish and chips and I had an India Pale Ale that is made in-house. Everything was excellent! My favorite part was when Goose, one of the bartenders, came to our table to ask how the food was and we got into a great conversation about British ales. Who knows… we might go back again tonight when he opens up a keg of Abbott’s Ale…
