This is what modern leisure services would term a ‘linear park’; in fact, it was laid out in Edwardian times as a long park to front the grand houses on The Parade in Barry, with fine views over Barry Harbour towards Barry Island. Essentially, it’s now just a long stretch of lawn, with formal and informal borders. It’s popular with children and those walking their dogs, as well as pensioners sitting and enjoying the sun(at least, when it makes an appearance).
