Not sure where to start here ! Just paid £15.00 for two ham egg and chips and a couple of drinks and now back home thinking why did we bother. Have been going to Jack’s at bagshot for years nowsorry never again ! Place was filthy, tables piled high with dirty plates, more staff than they know what to do with and not one of them looking slightly interested in what they are doing. The reliable friendly, mature staff of old have been replaced by the usual Bassetts allsorts brigade and it shows-lazy buggers. I happened to look across into the takeaway section at a piece of Fish in the stay hot section, my god the portion is about half of what it used to be. my chips were in fact barely cooked. I’m also horrified to discover the Food hygiene people gave this place 1 * out of 5 in 2012. judging by what I saw it has not improved. Such a shame but heh I’ll find someone that values my business. I actually wonder if the person who own’s Jacks ever bothers to sit in one of his/her Restaraunts to see what goes on coz if you carry on like this you’ll be bust in 6 months and you’ll have deserved it A totally pissed off customer

Jack’s used to be a great restaurant(for take-aways I wouldn’t want to eat there!), but it’s just so hit & miss these days. Occassionally they still do a great quality fish & chip supper but mostly I’m disappointed. Today I went in and was given a completely black, tarnished £1 coin. I asked for a different one, and the guy called out, That’s another person who’s refused that coin. Well, if you’ve noticed it and most people don’t think it’s real, why are you putting it back in the till and trying to con customers with it?! Assuming it is fake, aren’t you committing a criminal offence by doing this? Then the girl serving shouted, We’re going to run out of chips!, and the cooks called back loudly(loud enough for everyone in the shop to hear), Well just do smaller portions, then! They weren’t joking as no one moved and no fresh chips appeared The guy in front of me who had unwittingly ordered 8 of these smaller portions did not look amused. Sadly, the chips were a bit dried-out, oily and crispy and the fish(haddock) was soggy inside the crisp batter It wasn’t particularly fresh either sort of bearable(just) but not exactly tasty. I’ve been going here for decades but that was my last time ever. If the staff had the faintest idea of what customer service meant and recognised when food had gone past the point at which it might reasonably be sold, then there might be some hope for them.

Situated on the A30 at Bagshot, Jacks is a large fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. It has a big car park and the restaurant itself is spacious, although it can get very crowded at peak times. All meals are cooked to order so a delay is inevitable but varies acording to how busy they are. The food arrives at the table piping hot and portion sizes are good. Hot and cold drinks are available at the counter as required. Staff were polite and efficient although I felt tables could be cleared a little quicker at busy times. Prices were reasonable given the recent rises in food prices. A welcome alternative to pubs and restaurants if lunching in this locality.

Oh Jack’s, you really have not aged in the slightest. You’r chips are still greasy, your fish crispy and your tables plastic with chairs attached to them. Some might find this terrifying, I on the other hand love it. Strangely enough I was actually taken here on a date. Yup! I’m a classy bird. It brought back memories flooding through my mind of Wimpy meals and greasy spoon diners you stumble across at service stations. The difference is that Jack’s actually serves some damn good fish and chips. Some of the best in the area actually. A friend was actually telling me of how Jack’s sponsored his brothers little footie team as a kid, Jack really is part of the community. Oh and they serve wonderful mushy peas!

After driving past this place hundreds of times, I thought we’d pop in last Saturday afternoon. We arrived after the luunchime rush, so there were plenty of parking spaces free in their car park. We walked in, carrying our baby son. One of the staff ran out from behind the counter to coo at him, and compliment his shoes! Hehe. Nice to be greeted so warmly. They helped us be seated, by dragging over a high chair and I ordered the food. I sat and waited, clutching my order number ticket. Looking around, it was all a bit messed up. A couple of tables needed clearing, and there were dropped squashed chips here and there on the floor. The high chair was the muckiest we’ve ever been given. We had landed at 1.30pm on a Saturday, so perhaps we’d hit the aftermath of their busiest hour. My fish and chips came with mushy peas in a little pot. Tartare sauce came in two sachets. The bread and butter was pre-prepared and a touch dry. I’d carried two cans of drink over myself, and poured them into scratched old glasses. I thought the fish was very nice. The batter was about the best I’d had in years. The chips and peas were better than average, but wouldn’t win any awards. Fish & chips, fish & chips & peas, two cans of drink and bread and butter for two was over £15. Is that expensive? My in-laws say so, and won’t go near the place because of its prices. I don’t think it’s THAT dear these days. But it was quite a lot to hand over, to be sat amongst dropped and squashed chips. It was like being a teenager, sat on the wall outside the chippy where all the other kids had been eating. But maybe it’s not like that at other times. Overall, great fish, decent chips. Let down by the bread and previous diners’ dropped food.

Took a party of eight for lunch. Passable food if side dishes such as peas and coleslaw were a bit on the mean side. Bread and butter had been pre-prepared and the crusty edges were dry and curling. Last time I saw this was on British Rail some years ago. Surroundings were clean and passable but would not describe it as a gastronomic adventure. Mark of 5 out of 10 then. The reputation exceeds the fact.

Ordered regular fish and chips. Previously I would have received a whole fish how ever last night I only received half a fish i.e. half the portion. I assume this is to cut costs but as the price of the fish hasn’t changed I feel this is more than a little cheeky. Very disappointed.

Wonderful food as expected. Didn’t take long for food to arrive and the food was just absolutely delicious!!! Prices weren’t bad either so overall it was a good experience with some good deals too. Good parking spaces also but recently hasn’t seemed very busy which may explain the short time for food to arrive. Friendly staff also.

Really good quality fish and chip shop also selling saveloys, sausages, chicken, burger, and breakfasts. There are two sides where you can sit with lots of tables and chairs there are also a few benches outside. There is lots of parking. It does get busy last time I was there a coach party arrived but they had pre booked so they had the use of one side and other customers could sit the other side. The service is quick and staff are good and friendly. There is also a takeaway service.
