Shocking, 2 bottles of beer cost £11.80. We ordered the platter to share and it had been priced to sell to a corporate diner not for the public, the food was shocking, the bread and dips were just two slices of supermarket bread with some balsamic vinegar in olive oil with some frozen butter. The platter itself was a selection of deep fried frozen rubbish. Didn’t bother complaining just moved on to the next restaurant, lesson learned.

We spent one night at the Holiday Inn and by the time we checked in, was quite late. We were starving for a hot meal and didn’t feel like driving out again, so we opted to stay at the hotel and eat at Solstice. The restaurant was … nice… kinda sparsely decorated to a borderline between being contemporary to having that hospital sanitized look. The service staff irritated me a little. We were seated promptly but it took a while for our server to come and even to take our drink order, which I didn’t understand why as the restaurant was pretty empty and there were several wait staff just standing around. At any rate, the menu had several interesting dishes. Everything over-priced, but expected because 1) we are in the UK, so to us American eyes, everything is over-priced and 2) we are in a hotel restaurant and the hotel advertised itself as Holiday Inn — Stonehenge, no less. So we are in a touristy hotel restaurant. I ordered a pork belly dish. Which tasted decent, but made me ill that night(ok, that might not be fair since I have no scientific evidence that it was THAT dish that made me sick). My husband’s sausage coil dish was laughable though. It was a coil of breakfast sausage type sausage sitting on top of mediocre mash potatoes. As hungry as he was, he just couldn’t finish it. Why would someone create a dinner dish using breakfast sausage is beyond me. We should’ve asked what type of sausage, but both of us just never would have expected to have seen breakfast sausage… Any other type would have been perfectly fine. Anyways, slow service, mediocre food at best, and over-priced…
