Thorntons

Thorntons at the East Midlands Retail Outlet is a relatively large shop, with a spacious attached café. The shop itself offers reduced prices on a variety of boxed chocolates, iced treats like football boots and seasonal goods like Easter Bunnies. At different times of the year there is a large chocolate fountain and a variety of ice creams for the summer. My personal favourites though have to be the slabs of exotically flavoured chocolate, that you can buy in multiples, for a reduced price.
The café has to be the most popular venue at MacArthur Glen, always busy, you kind of get used to the queueing! I’m sure its partly designed so that you linger passed the alpini, danish pastries, wraps and the delicious cheese scones, to name but a few. A great variety of hot drinks too, the luxury hot chocolate probably has half your daily calories though. I normally plump for the straightforward Americano, which is not the greatest cup of coffee I’ve ever had, but not bad. To compliment the variety of indoor seating, theres also some outdoor seating, but this is limited, due to the layout of the outlet village.
