Service, fantastic. Atmosphere is upscale and elegant. Food is beyond good. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. I like spicy food and this hit the delicate balance of being spicy(per my request) without losing flavor. I am really glad I came here on my first night in Aberdeen. I will be back before I leave.

My Indian colleague says this restaurant is very authentic. He ordered a Vindaloo chicken and I had the Bagan(sp) Josh lamb dish. His was too hot for me to eat but he enjoyed it very much, while mine was spicy and rich, the lamb dish was excellent. The naan was large, hot and very good. Service was very good and the prices were okay. Overall an good experience. Only problem was locating the sign on the side of the building(doesn’t stick out), but the really good thing was that they had parking around back when there was no parking anywhere else near.

I had an OK experience here. Came in a group of five. Food, overall, was pretty good. Decent prices and medium to large portions. Some of the dishes that the menu noted as ‘medium hot’ were a bit too hot for me, which either makes me a wimp or exposes a flawed hotness rating system. The wines are expensive. The service could be a bit cavalier at times, though overall our servers were alright. This place is a solid three stars from me.

Jewel In The Crown is a really nice restaurant to be. The food is of good quality and the service is excellent. What really impressed me is that the maitre of the restaurant remembered exactly what I ate and drank the last time I was in the restaurant. And I am not a regular customer. Last but not least I loved the fact that they have the same bottles of water that Transformers 3 used in their movie, too… how cool is that?

Sauces were too sweet. Service was subpar, even condescending at moments. Atmosphere was unbearably hot, and they squeezed too many tables into an area that could not acoustically handle that much sound. Not from the music either. Also the meats were way overcooked. The lamb had that texture where it was falling apart, but at the same time really dry. The prawns were rubbery, and the chickpeas from the chana were undercooked. All in all I would only eat here again if they chained an anchor to my legs, and told me if I didn’t eat their food they’d throw me into the river dee. But only under life and death circumstances would I choke it down. It get’s the extra star because the pakora is the best pakora I’ve ever eaten. But aside from that JITC, I dub thee Thorn in thy Crown.

I’ve eaten Indian food in India, Hong Kong, and all over the US and this is some of the best I’ve ever had. Great Service too! AAA+++
