This is the restaurant attached to the Taylors port lodge, which is up the hill on the south side of the Douro river in Porto. We hadn’t booked ahead so we did not get a table by the window the views over Porto and surrounding area from this height were amazing so this was a bit of a shame, but never mind. Our waiter was amazingly friendly and helpful, in fact maybe the friendliest person we met in Portugal. He brought us some dry white port as an apéritif, which was great, and I got a free half-refill. The food was hearty rather than delicate and the portions were generous to say the least. The waiter brought us a good bottle of red wine to have with the food and we had more port with the dessert and after dinner. Its lucky the walk back down to the river was downhill as I wouldn’t have made it home otherwise
