Absolutely incredible doing the Biobay tour. I really wanted to find a provider which had the clearbottom kayaks as i thought it would be an incredible experience to float through the bioluminescence and I absolutely made the right decision. The water was absolutely beautiful and the tour operators had such a wonderful knowledge of the area. They seemed to truly care about the bay and about the sustainability of it. Seeing hands going in the water and seeming to glow with movement was such a beautiful and serene experience and seeing the bubbles and light going on under the kayak bottom was beautiful. 50 dollars VERY well spent

We had an unforgettable time doing the BioBay tour with JAK Water Sports. The staff were professional and fun. They gave us a safe and educational experience. We were in a fairly small group with three guides so we felt like we got a lot of personal attention without getting lost in the crowd. When we left we noticed a few other tours loading and it looked like a hot, crowded mess over there. I’m also glad we went with JAK because they busted out these laser beams that pointed up into the sky and gave us a full on astronomy tour as well. Not sure if other tours do this but it was AMAZING! The BioBay is not to be missed. TIP: Please check the lunar calendar and go when the moon is at its smallest. You will see more glow. The fuller the moon is, the less you will see. Glass bottom kayaks are the way to go.

This was SUCH a fun experience! While the meeting location was tucked away in a parking lot that was hard to find(no sign and not on main road), Denise(the organizer) was very helpful. She even waited until our cab arrived after we were done so we wouldn’t be alone. Gabo, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and made it an engaging experience for all. Definitely a must if you’ll be in Vieques!

Jak Watersports did a great job with the tour. I do not know about other tours, but I suggest this one solely for the glass bottom kayaks. The tour would have been significantly lessened by not having them. The tour guide was really nice and informative. The tour was two hours and lots of paddling. You have to be willing to be that active. But being one with nature in such a secluded place is worth it. I will say I was disappointed that the bay wasn’t as bright as the many photos I saw. But that is more about the bay and less about the tour company.

Highly recommend this tour; great people, very helpful, and the glass bottomed kayaks are a must. I feel that there were a few too many people/kids on the tour to give it 5 stars; if they took more like 12 vs. 16 people it would be perfect.

10⁄10 stars for the Biobay tour– it was nothing like I’ve ever seen before and is totally underrated. If you’re considering whether or not you should go, the answer is YES, GO. THEWATERGLOWSWHENYOUTOUCHITLIKEMAGIC. The glass bottom kayaks are smart and amazing because you could literally see the bits of light rushing right underneath you. I could’ve stared at it for days. Now to the review about Jak Water Sports. They’re good, but not great. –We went on a clear Monday night and there were approximately 15 people in our group. –We all had to pair up in 2s, the lighter weighted person sits in the back of each kayak. –The driver was friendly and informative. –They provide bug spray. –They take cash and credit card, payment due when you meet and sign waivers. –Can’t take photos. It won’t work. Just enjoy the experience. –The only negative aspect of this tour was that our guide was very… opinionated. He spoke about culture and people and it got kind of. political.

This Is my first Unilocal review. I went to the bio bay tour with JAK water sports tonight, it is the most unforgettable experience I ever have! They have the clear bottom kayak, makes you see very clearly about what’s going on under the sea. We are so lucky to see the glowing bio bay and clear sky. The tour guy is very knowledgeable about the bay and sky. We even see many shooting stars tonight! I am so happy! This trip is worth every penny. YOUMUSTTRYIT!

My husband and I used Jak Water Sports for our Vieques bio-bay tour and we had an INCREDIBLE time. The bio bay itself is absolutely magical — brilliant phosphorescence, a million stars, and no light pollution. Jak Water Sports uses clear-bottom kayaks, which makes the experience even more magical as you are able to see the dynoflagellates streaking by under you. Their guides also did a great job leading the boats, discussing the bay, and describing the stars and constellations we could see. The group also wasn’t too big — 16 tourists in 8 double kayaks with 3 guides in single kayaks. Everything was perfect about our bio-bay tour — couldn’t recommend them more highly! They also do snorkeling excursions, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and bike rentals. Check out their website for the location as different services seem to be offered at different places(for example, the bio-bay tour leaves from Sun Bay Beach parking lot).
