My favorite liquor store. The prices are very reasonable and it’s very close to my hotel. This is a convenient store/liquor store so you can get liquor, ginger ale, snacks, cat food, the whole nine. Best prices on Ashford

We stayed at a hotel close to here and was recommended by our concierge to come and get drinks/water/snacks. You can’t really miss it since it’s next to Mike’s Pizza and on a busy street. Once inside, you see a lot of varieties of alcohol! Beer, wine, hard alcohol… it doesn’t have a extensive selection though… just the generic and general stuff… couldn’t find my Effen vodka here. However, they do have a lot of snacks! And a surprising selection of fresh fruit. Some looked pretty fresh, but others didn’t look too fresh. They had a lot of random foods like popcorn, cereal, almond milk, etc… We ended up getting large gallons of waters, a ice tea vodka, a bottle of Moscato, and some snacks. It’s convenient and the prices were pretty reasonable.

I actually had three encounters with this store, and it ended favorable. On my first day in Puerto Rico, we stopped at this store to stock up on water, fruit, liquor, juice etc. Their cost were comparable with what we pay here in Atlanta, so I didn’t feel like I was in a tourist trap. You can buy almost anything at this store. The name does indeed imply what can be purchased here. I didn’t even know they had lottery in Puerto Rico until I went into this store. We bought several items, so when the total came up to $ 56, I didn’t really pay attention to it, but if I had, I would have agree it was too high for what we had purchased, but by this time I’d been in PR for about 4 hours and I was on a vacation high, and didn’t care what anything cost. Two days later, I had some down time, so I cleaned out my purse and starting piling receipts to check against my bank account, when I discovered that I had been charged for six boxes of condoms. At first I had no idea what a Durex Natural Feel, Extra Sensitive, Performax was, but it came to me quickly and then I knew something was wrong. There were four different types of condoms listed on the receipt and they ranged in price from $ 3.50 to $ 3.99. We’re talking $ 22 + tax for condoms I had not purchased. I immediately called the store and a lady with limited English told me that I could get a refund, so I made the quick walk back to the store from my hotel. I stayed at the Conrad Condado Plaza — Hilton, it was less than a five minute walk only to get there and she tell me that the owner is not there and I will have to come back. I got peeved cause I thought she should have told me that over the phone, but again, her English was limited, or at least she pretended it was, and I inquired what time the owner would arrive. In my limited Spanish, I agreed to come back and asked her to make sure the owner knew of the situation and that I would be there at 8am the next morning. The next morning I arrived at 8:20 only to be told that Ruben had gone to the bank and would be back in 10 minutes. 10 minutes later, he still had not arrived, so I asked the same lady that I had dealt with the previous evening to call him on his cell and inquire when he would return, as it was my final day in PR, and I wasn’t going to spend it waiting on him or chasing down $ 22. She called and he stated he would be back in less than 15 minutes. He did arrive back in about ten minutes, and she explained to him in Spanish what my situation was. He asked me to wait a few minutes, and I could see he had a bank bag in his hand, so having worked in retail, I knew he needed to «drop» the money before handling me. Finally he called me back into his office and asked for my receipt. Let me put you shoplifters on standby… RUBENHASCAMERASEVERYWHEREINTHISSTORE!!! There were like 12 closed circuit TV’s in his office that covered every angle of the store. He look at the date and time on my receipt, view the playback and saw the lady accepting the condoms into the stores inventory, and hang them, on a display behind the counter, and then ring up my items. He apologize, asked if he could retain the receipt so that he could consult with her on her mistake and gave me back the $ 22 in cash. I didn’t stress over the tax and left the store with Ruben’s assurance that he would speak with all the cashiers and advise them to use the other register to take in inventory if they are ringing customers up on another register and that he had not issue with issuing the refund, but hope I understood, that people come back with excuses all the time, because they’ve overspent while on vacation and want to get money back for all kinds of things. I concurred that I did indeed understand, and was just happy he didn’t have a no refunds polices. We shook hands and I left the store. If I’m ever in PR again, this business has earned me as a loyal customer.(but I will watch my receipts) 75 of 100
