The parking spot can use a little boost, but the food is great! Great taste and great big portions! Truly enjoy their mofongo and plantain fries.

Es mejor visitarlo si es un grupo de muchas personas. La comida es buena, pero no excelente. Pedí un mofongo relleno de churrasco. El mofongo muy bueno, en cambio el churrasco le faltaba gusto. Buen servicio.

My neighbors highly recommended this restaurant but to me the experience was very middle of the road. The food is OK and the service from staff is mediocre. Don’t bother calling over the phone either, their answer to everything is «come in and see». We had to wait over an hour for our food. The place was half empty so the wait time was not caused by a rush of customers. The waiter disappeared and I had to stand up and search the restaurant to ask him what was taking so long. The meal was OK but nothing to write home about especially after such a long wait. The portions are huge so order one plate for 2, there will definitely be leftovers.

The place is located in a great area on Santa Isabel. Food quantity is gigantic! Please do yourself a favor, order a plate for 2! These plates are huge! Even the ones for 2 people are meant for 4 people! Unfortunately the time we waited for the food on a 1rst of January with the place half empty was too long of a wait. It took us 2 hours to receive the food! According to the waiter their was a miscommunication in the kitchen. Mofongo con churrasco was good but not the best. I have eaten a mofongo at a hole-in-the-wall better than this. Also, the fish was a bit too cold. I think that in general in was a matter of this particular day. However, you should check this place out but don’t go without making a reservation!

Ok food. Nothing that couldn’t bd found in other restaurants. Nothing worth a 1h10min wait for food. I sincerely regret coming here. I drove one hour and waited for food over 1 hr,. Never coming back lest is free.

Had a piña colada & the ropa vieja mofongo. It was fresh & had good flavor. Decent prices, good portions, & the wait wasn’t long at all. The staff was really nice & attentive. We enjoyed this place & the view.

Food: — El Plantanar(sampler): Came with 4 coconut butterfly shrimp, 4 mofongo balls, 4 chicken wings, and 4 tostones bowls stuffed with pork. The shrimp was delicious! Everything else was pretty good. 4⁄5 4 lb. cerdo(pork): The menu says this plate served 4 but it could easily feed 6 — 8 people. There is no way 4 people can finish this plate. It came with 10 huge ribs, a mountain of mofongo, salad, 5 fried tostones, and 5 fried plantains. I couldn’t finish one rib. It was ridiculously huge. My guy friends each had 2 ribs, and my girl friend had 1 rib. We had to box the rest of it. It came with a side of BBQ sauce and a sweet-cinnamony sauce. No one was too fond of the sweet sauce. The mofongo wasn’t as dry and bland like the ones I’ve had at other places. It still wasn’t great though. I’ve never had really good mofongo. 3⁄5 Nutty cake with vanilla ice cream: This was sooo good! The chocolate cake was delicious. 5⁄5 Service: Super slow. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. The waitress came by our table several times to refill our glass of water. 3⁄5 Final thoughts: The cost wasn’t too bad. The appetizer was $ 12, pork $ 51, and cake $ 5. The food was pretty good, not great. The restaurant is located on top of it hill which gave a spectacular view. There was a live band and a fully stocked bar. I would definitely come again if I’m in the area.

It’s not in San Juan, it’s in Coamo, unless they have others. But the food was delicious. The waitress was great, the servings were huge and the prices were right! We loved our food, took some home and will definitely be back at some point. The ambiance reminded me of a country bar/restaurant in the US, but it was definitely Boricua style. They also had a cart to take you from the far away parking spots to the front door and back after a meal. They sold quenepas and yame(spellings?) at the door, and the place was just great. Looking forward to our next visit!

Really good food. Great prices… But, the service sucks. The live band was to far away from anything. That is not live…

Just as the name suggests, everything will be with Platano(plantain) at this place. It was a long drive from San Juan but definitely worth it. El Platanal is high with a view of plantain trees fields. The restaurant is divided in 3 areas: As soon as you walk in, the(full) bar where you can get just about any drink you want tropical or classic, or you can ask for fruit juices, frappes, coffee, etc. At the bar you can also order appetizers or you can take these to the second area, the«outside seating» with a pool. The third area is the«dining area» where huge plates of food were delivered one after the other. We decided to do appetizers at the bar, highly recommended! We ordered Coconut Shrimp with a side of plantain fries(green plantain sticks fried with salt), also ordered the Tostones(green plantains shaped as a bowl) filled with chicken, shrimp and steak, and out third plate was Bolitas de Mofongo(Mofongo Balls). Mofongo is one of our typical food in PR. This is made with green plantains fried, mixed with garlic, salt, and chicharron(pork grinds). Now, I’m very picky about Mofongo, it can’t be too dry or garlicky… This was perfect! We liked it so much we ordered a second plate. The Passion Fruit frappé was refreshing and delicious. They also have Coconut Water, served right in the coconut — can’t get any more tropical than that! Really like this place. After living all this years in the USA, when I go back home(PR) I crave our food and El Platanal was right on target.
