No matter where you are staying on the island this gorgeous 2 hour trail ride is well worth your time and money($ 50). Amazing ocean front ride, the trail leading up to the beach was also nice with a lot of history from when the US Military occupied the area. The staff was super cool and at least for my group, we weren’t just mushing along slowly. We had the opportunity to trout which you never get in the states. Will be back, every trip back!

This place is fantastic!!! We were staying in Rincon, and it only took us about 40 minutes to get there. We were a group of five adults and one child so we only had two more people ride with us in our tour; it was so awesome! The staff is absolutely wonderful and super knowledgable(I Asked about the town and activities), the horses were beautiful and so gentle. I myself had Krystal, she was a gem. The guide will first take you through forest terrain and after about 15 minutes, find a secluded beach to rest and take photos inside a cave! After, get back on your horse to trail blaze through more forest terrain! You do get to trot a lot of the way which is super fun. And the views are gorgeous. They also provide photographers when you first get on the beach, you can purchase these when you get back to the stables($ 10 for one) All of us had a great time and would highly recommend this tour option to anyone.

We loved our trail ride! This was one of the highlights of our trip to PR. The staff was very friendly and they did a great job matching horses with people. Highly recommend!

It was a fun experience and I would definitely recommend it. I went on the 3:30 ride and it was cloudy but it was still a beautiful trail ride. I would recommend you wear beach shoes and if you have a go pro bring the head mount because you will need both hands to ride the horse. You need to call for a reservation and they will ask for your credit card info. They do not do cancellations so if you cancel your ride they will charge your credit card. They use the card to hold your spot and when you arrive you pay in cash or travelers check. We paid $ 50 per person. Make sure you bring a little backpack to hold all I your belongings.

Amazing experience on the beach! I admit that I was super nervous about riding as I’ve never been on a horse before. They selected a gentle horse for me and gave me some commands. The guides were awesome in making sure I was comfortable during the ride. I was nervous for no reason-the horses are well-trained and know and follow the route by themselves. The ride was about 2 hours. Some of it was on the beach with another portion being in the forest. The ride on the beach was like something from a movie-this beach has no buildings and no people. The guides let us stop and took photos of us. For $ 50 per person this was an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend it.

A group of friends and I went riding during a trip to PR, and as a whole, had a lot of fun. The trip takes about 2 hours, if I remember correctly, at $ 40-$ 50 per person, depending on the seasonality. We were all essentially first-time riders, and on a whole, didn’t have any problems. The ride goes out towards the beach, through some woods. At the halfway point, the guides let us stop and we chilled by the beach and explored some mini caves for about a half hour, before heading back. Riding the horses was definitely the best part – the area was scenic, but nothing spectacular. Before the trip, the guides get a feel for who’s more nervous and who’s more comfortable, and paired those more nervous with more mellow horses. Keep in mind that these are horses, so there was some mischief going on at times, with the horses trying to eat things they weren’t supposed to eat, or veering towards the side of the road. In general, the horses are very calm, and know to follow each other, so there isn’t a lot of guidance that you as a the rider have to provide. One of my friends did get knocked off of her horse when her horse rode too close to a large branch. The guides were helpful in making sure she was OK, and we got back to camp without any other problems. The guides always make sure to note areas where you should guide your horse more to the left or two the right, but this spot was a bit unexpected. Most of the time, the horses are going pretty slow, at an easy walk, with some mild trotting in between along the sand, so my friend was fine with a few bruises from where she slipped. Definitely check them out if you’re in the area. We had a lot of fun riding along the beach, even as newbie riders!

A group of friends and I went to Tropical Trail Rides for a 3:00PM ride last week. Unfortunately, because of seasonality, it was $ 50 per person. Did we enjoy the ride? Yes! But could it have been better? Definitely. The trail was fun and the experience was novel and enjoyable. Riding horses on the plains, some simple trails, and on the beach! It’s as amazing as it sounds. The problem were the horses. For some reason, we got horses that were not very obedient. One of my friends got bruised from her horse taking a left instead of a right on the trail. Several of my friends got horses that were old and didn’t listen to their guidance and kept lagging behind. Several of my friends got horses that were younger and nervous and easily spooked and excitable. Maybe it’s because we had a party of 11, so they had to use horses that they usually don’t use… but some of those trail horses should not be put on the trail. Personally, my horse was also coughing the whole time — poor Misty.

On Monday August 26, 2013. My wife, sister in-law and I took our grandchildren to Tropical Trail Rides in Isabela, Puerto Rico for the 4:00PM ride. Although it rained throughout the entire ride, the children enjoyed themselves above and beyond. Michelle took the time to explain to the children how to managed the horses and the safety tips in the event the horses were spooked by natural elements. Our granddaughter was so excited with the Tropical Trail Ride she wants to go back next year 2014, when we return to Aguadilla on our yearly vacation. Caffy who guided the children throughout the ride is an exceptional horse handler, despite the rain the children were so happy with Caffy being their guide. I wish Caffy well with her studies. We could not have asked for anything else Tropical Trails Rides is an exceptional professional business. Thank you Michelle to you and your staff(Caffy). PS: Their dogs are super friendly! Sincerely, Al & Nereida Rosario

Went to tropical trail rides while we were staying in Isabela for a week for a wedding. One of the things on my bucket list was to ride horses on the beach(I rode quite a bit when I was a teenager) and I can now officially cross it off! It was so much fun, and the guides were super nice. We had no mosquitoes at all, although we did bring bug spray and used it while we were waiting to get on the horses. There were a lot of flies at the farm, and well hey, it’s a farm, in a tropical climate, there are going to be flies. Anyway, the trail was lovely, the beaches beautiful, and the horses friendly and calm. There is a lot of trotting involved which I loved, and there were several beginners who did just fine and seemed to also love it. I rode Zuma, and she was a good listener, and although many of the other horses did try and eat the grass, I told Zuma no, and guided her firmly away and she never ate. I highly recommend doing this if you are anywhere near Isabela, you will not regret it! Next year we’re going back and taking the kids!

Amazing! If you go to PR I highly recommend coming here. The place is beautiful. Tour guides are very friendly. And the horses are gentle but spirited– you can really tell they care for them, unlike other places I have gone horseback riding. We absolutely loved our time here and it was probably the highlight of our trip to PR. Couldn’t believe it was only $ 45. DONOTHESITATECOMINGHERE.

Myself and my 11-year old son did the Tropical Trail Rides 2-hour beach ride and were very impressed with everything, including the price of $ 45.00. This is a very professional business that does not overcharge like so many horse-riding places do. The actual ride was the best horse ride I have ever had, and I have been riding horses since I was 8 years old. We rode through lush trails, a forest and on two different deserted beaches. Can’t do those beach rides in the 50 states. The horses were all healthy, well-groomed, and were well-behaved. Of the seven people in the riding group, two were first-time riders. They were relaxed and did well. The female guide from Dallas, Texas was very sweet. My young horse, Calypso, was probably the best horse I have ever ridden. With him I could have been on automatic pilot the whole time. He knew everything to do, and where to go, and tried so very hard to do the right thing always. He was so conscientious it was very cute.(He thought he was one of those Spanish dancer horses — sshhh don’t tell him he is not in Spain). The very nice owners let us stay parked at their ranch so we could walk down to the snorkeling beach about 100 yards away. The parking outside the ranch is almost non-existent for the very nice Shacks beach nearby, so that was much appreciated.

It was our best experience in Puerto Rico. It was pretty far out from Dorado/San Juan area, but it was truly worth it. The ride was so beautiful, slowly trotting along empty beach after beach inaccessible to the public, with the sun coming down. We did the afternoon ride. I was a little worried for my 11 y.o. daughter who had never been on a horse. The horses are very tame and they know what to do. Our guide Cassie was very good. The entire group about 20 people, but we were broken up into smaller groups of 5 – 7 people and a guide. We were in the last group, so Cassie might have extended our ride«slightly.»

If you are planning on visiting Puerto Rico, you will love to take a horseback ride tour with Tropical Trail Rides. Make sure you get directions, because GPS didn’t help us much in Puerto Rico. Riding a horse on the beaches of Puerto Rico was one of our favorite experiences on our vacation. Our guide had us get off of our horses about half way on our tour so we could take a little walk into a cove where we were allowed to take a little swim to cool off, before we headed back… What a great time this was.
