This is the beach for locals. It was cool to see everyone grilling out with their families and playing sports beachside. The water is clearer than the beaches in San Juan however the sand is more rustic and beach shoes are a must. Take the trail to the left of the beach to the other side that has terrific beach and water for snorkeling. Parking is $ 5 and some change — restrooms are Available for $ 1 which gives you a pass for the day.

With our trip to Puerto Rico, we were unable to get on a Ferry to visit Flamenco beach. So we did all that we could to find different beach options on the main island. We went along most of the north coast and overall, the beach quality was very similar. That is not necessarily a bad thing as there is no bad beach. But this was a more crowded public beach and it was a bit more dirty than the others.

The first beach we went to, and I’m glad it was. It gradually filled up with so many families which was so much fun to see – and I mean WHOLE families – babies in strollers and grandparents in wheelchairs. Watch out for the trees, as the stuff that fell off of them stayed on my( Unilocal elite) towel for the whole trip. My bad for putting it in a pile of what looked like pine needles. There’s a secret part, which I’ll be adding…

Beautiful beach and perfect for kids because the water is so calm. There is also plenty of trees that provide nice shade. Some areas along the shore can be rocky, but not enough to ruin the experience. In the weekends or during holidays it does get VERY crowded with locals.

Water not murky. Bring water shoes rocky on shore. Great for snorkeling. Forgot your beer? No worries great prices for food and beer at Pastelillos. Right a walk away from beach

Do not try to camp here. Repeat: do not try to camp here. For some reason, both Lonely Planet and Fodors suggest that you can pay to tent camp here. I am not sure where they got that information, but upon arrival I paid $ 6 to park, $ 1 to use the restroom and was told they would shortly lock my car in parking lot from 5pm until 8am the next day. Evidently they planned to leave me in unattended with stray dogs and a «camping area» that literally smelled like shit. Also, they noted that I could walk in and out of the campsite but that it would be dangerous to park outside of the paid lot. Wait, what? You mean they block vehicular traffic but not foot traffic at night? Not a great way to keep campers safe. Anyhow, avoid. This place isn’t even suitable as a day beach site.

Public beach near the Waldorf Astoria hotel. Very quite during the week. Busy with locals on the weekend. Has facilities not up to standard. Nearby kiosks and«vendedores» on the weekend.
