Leuven

If you want to feel like you are in Europe without even leaving Wellington then Leuven is the place! Along with the décor, beer selection and the high proportion of staff with accents and finally your imagination, you might just be able to pretend you are in Belgium.
I usually only come here on Sunday or Monday for the ‘2 for 1′ mussel deal (Which is awesome might I add) but I decided to try their breakfast menu for a change. It seems we caught them at a bad time however. They were so busy because the Cricket World Cup quarter final was on. The service to begin with was excellent but there were a few little hiccups with meals forgotten but the atmosphere and experience made up for it!
I got the hash which was a little underwhelming but everyone else I was with enjoyed their meals. I tried a bit of my friend’s meatloaf and it was superb. I always like a side of fries here as they cook then perfectly and the aioli is some of the tastiest I’ve had.
The mains are all matched to beers they have on tap which is helpful. Great spot if your group wants to get a bit boozy trying the different beers which come in their own unique glass. Fun times.

Found this place walking around Wellington on vacation. We had no idea what we were walking into. The poached pear and spiced venison burger was one of the best burgers of my life (and I’ve had my share if burgers). The girlfriend got the creeps which were also delicious. We went in with no expectations and were blow away. The ambience is really cool as well. Highly recommend.

Nice quiet place for a mid afternoon beer. Rustic décor and a wonderful atmosphere, this is the place to come for a Belgian tap beer. It’ll hit your back pocket though at $ 16 for a pint
