Drexels Breakfast Restaurant

A solid breakfast establishment in Christchurch offering generous portions of «American Style Breakfast.» As an American living in Christchurch, it’s nice to have a little slice of home just down the street. The breakfast menu is available all day and features anything from large breakfast platters and «Drex Mex» to omelettes and salads. The breakfast special is my favorite which is 2 eggs your way, choice of mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon or sausage and your choice of 2 pancakes, waffles or french toast. I opted for bacon and pancakes. The bacon was slightly crispy and slightly undercooked, the pancakes were light and fluffy and a little larger than a bread plate.
Definitely make a booking if you want to eat here during the weekend as the restaurant is always packed, especially starting around 8am. If you’re an early bird, 7am is a more peaceful dining experience in this modern establishment.

A Christchurch institution and if the huge waiting list is anything to go by, a popular breakfast option for the Garden City. Serving classic American diner style breakfast with a Kiwi twist, the menu is simple but impressive — everything is cooked fresh to order and the servings are generous. Friendly service and definitely worth a visit — walk through Hagley Park afterwards to burn off the calories!

Hier gibt es leckeres frisches Frühstück! Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, Preise sind in Ordnung. Wenn man eine ruhige Atmosphäre haben will sollte man allerdings nicht hierhin kommen — es ist wahnsinnig geschäftig. Trotzdem ist das Essen relativ schnell da. Top!

This place is very busy, and with good reason. It’s very good.
Came here with a big group: grandson, grandchildren, grandparents. Grandson is only 1 and loved the free toast. The rest of us loved the massive portions and free toast.
I had the breakfast burrito, which was great, but maybe lacking proper heat. Whatever you get, always get a side of hash browns.

Yes! The closest experience of a nice American breakfast diner I’ve experienced in New Zealand. The menu is awesome; there’s a large choice of items and a bunch of optional sides if you’re extra hungry.
Food was of a good standard. Service is great, bottomless filter coffee. What’s not to love?!
