Hands down the best meal I’ve had in New Zealand and one of the best meals I’ve had ever. I cannot believe this gem was hiding from me! I wanted to take my boyfriend out for a nice meal for his birthday(since he’s quite a foodie) and was referred by the chef’s cousin. We opted for the fine dining and had the 6 course meal that the chef picked, as we didn’t know what to choose haha! Each course was so delicious: melt-in-your-mouth truffle pasta, delicious fish with herbs, perfectly cooked beef, creamy chicken and Waldorf salad, a tangy and sweet rhubarb sorbet, and a lovely chocolate fondant for the birthday boy. Mmmm so yum! They cater to your choices so don’t feel like you have to get something you don’t like. I’m not a big oyster fan and they were accommodating to not give us that in the meal. They take you to the back room in a beautiful dining section. The staff are so attentive and helpful. We aren’t super fancy people and I felt like we fit in just fine. Obviously we dressed up and had a few wines. The meal is expensive, but you get what you pay for. All in all, amazing food, great ambiance, and helpful staff. What more can you ask for?
