Excellent food and service has some great wines very cool relaxed atmosphere. In one of the best suburbs in NZ. Let’s try keep this as a local secret. Our new favourite smashes all these over priced and over talked about fancy city centre places to eat. Go on try it!

I love coming to the Maple Room! It is a bit tucked away in suburban Remuera, half way down Upland Rd. It is always busy — all the locals frequent it because it has delicious food and drinks and great service. It is great for brunch — they have an excellent vegetarian big breakfast! Also it is lovely for dinner — I’ve been there with large groups and it has been fine, and the food is delicious. And it is a great place to meet up for coffee and cake with the girls for dessert, or for a few quiet drinks any night of the week. Parking is on the street and depending when you go, you may have to walk a little bit.

I have previously visited The Maple Room for lunch and recently returned for some a small bite to eat and some drinks. On both occasions I have been impressed with the service(although being quiet upon both occasions helps). The manager is very personable and is very happy to offer menu and wine advice. Previously for lunch I had ordered the kingfish which I would most definitely order again, although ensure you are a fan of kingfish — which can be quite a tough fish, a result of it being a game fish. However, I did not enjoy the side of polenta but this was probably my mistake as I did not realise the blandness of this food and did not like the texture of it. On the second occasion we ordered a side of squid which was pretty darn good for such a simple battered piece of seafood. This went well with our bottle of sauvignon and was a pleasant size right before heading home for dinner. The Gin Fizz cocktail I had was also delicious, the flavours of gin prominent although remained very refreshing.

I came here the other night with my dad, uncle and sister. We decided to all share some tapas, desserts and have a few glasses of wine. It was great! Sitting outside, enjoying the pleasant weather, perfect. Being in the suburbs it’s quite easy to find parking, however as it is on a main road, sitting outside can be quite noisy when traffic goes past. Besides that minor complaint the restaurant seemed very popular as majority of the tables were occupied when we were there. The service was great! Everyone was very friendly, approachable and accommodating. I would recommend the grilled prawn kebabs with hot & sour sauce and the grilled chorizo sausage with spanish mayonnaise as bites to share, also the white chocolate mousse with berry & coconut & a burnt orange sauce for dessert.
