Stopped in for a afternoon snack type thing. Got an afghan biscuit and a Harney and Sons bottled green tea, so refreshing. Just what I needed . This small(mostly takeaway) café is practically a institution. With a freezer full of ready made meals and friendly staff I can see why the masses keep coming back. And with two cookbooks out to showcase their secrets . If I was living local I’m sure the staff would know me by name. Keep up the good work.

Very nice unique salads, awesome for lunch and dinner takeaway. Go with your home made protein deliciously. Reasonably priced and comes in a cute little cardboard box.

At Ripe you definitely make friends with salads. Their incredibly fresh and are a tonne of options — soba noodles with Asian greens, israeli couscous with roasted vege, raw energy with grated carrot and beetroot, just to name a few. Plus they ask if you want toasted seeds sprinkled on top… ummm, yes please! I always go straight for the salads but they also have lots of other options — polenta pizza, chicken and bean burritos, vege stacks, wraps, sandwiches and unbelievably good looking sweet treats! In terms of seating there’s a few out the front but this is predominately a takeaway joint so be prepared to order to go.

I discovered Ripe by accident and oh, what a terrific accident it was. Their bread pudding is world class and their sweets cabinet — a shelf of delectations that include chunky chocolates and fruity fillings — is wonderful. This from someone who isn’t particularly fond of copious amounts of sweet foods. I’ve eaten their deli salads, including their dense and delicious ceasar salad. They do wonders with legumes. They are also good at filo dishes that include salmon, leeks, and other goodies. This place wins 5 stars because it is so well rounded. Their kitchen is viewable from the street and from the inside of the deli, so you can watch them produce pan after pan and racks upon racks of food for their healthy catering business. They do mini meat pies, too. Finger foods for drive-by appetites.

This place is so amazing, one my my fav spots in Auckland for a huge selection of healthy and non healthy treats. The staff here are always so nice, and the deli has a great vibe. They are also very environmentally conscious here, a lot of the produce is grown locally, all the cups, plates etc are Eco friendly. My personal favorite is the roasted banana cheesecake– SODELICIOUS! Ripe deli is the perfect place to swing past on the way to a friends, also really nice sitting out the front when the sun is shining. Parking is fairly easy along Richmond rd. On a side note; Ripe has 2 cook books now, both are amazing. Many of the dishes are my regular favorites. Take the time to visit this amazing gem, i promise you wont be disappointed!!!

I only just went to the Ripe Delicatessen recently and am kicking myself for not coming sooner. Situated on the beautiful and rather famous Richmond Road, it’s prime picking for many of Auckland’s stylish peeps. Obviously a lot of people were in the know, because the place was pretty busy when I went there. This did not detract from the experience at all. The cabinet was nearly overflowing with mouth watering options. There are amazing salads with flavour combos I haven’t seen anywhere else, and an extensive range of sweet treats that are hard to ignore no matter how good you’re trying to be. The ingredients they use are among the freshest and most flavourful I have tried and leave you feeling like you’ve done something good for your body. Because there isn’t a heap of seating, it is definitely more of a takeaway place but there are numerous places nearby that would be lovely to enjoy your Ripe treats in. Unfortunately, it is a bit expensive, but it is yum and it is quality.

Ripe is all about wraps and salads and all that malarky. People seems to love the place but I reckon it’s only a three star establishment. Something about Ripe does not ‘ring true’ for me. Not even sure why. I just get a kind of bad vibe out of the place. Maybe I should go their with an open mind and try a bunch more of their foods, like all the salads and stuff. I dunno, I’m just not into beetroot. This place seems like a serious beetroot place to me. I do like their brioche though. Three stars.

Went here for the first time today and I must say I can definitely see what all the fuss is about. It was absolutely packed when I went in, but it was lunch time on a Friday. The place is great, the serving area is on one side and on the other side is the kitchen. The serving area is long and skinny so there was a bit of a squish with all the people trying to order, but they were really busy at the time. First and foremost, it’s a take-away deli, so you don’t get to have a coffee in a cup it will be in a take-away one. They have some seating outside but it was all full at the time, so we just took our food somewhere else. Right, the food! Their salad cabinet is extensive, along with their sweet cabinet, full of every type of cake, slice, muffin, doughnut you could imagine. They also cater to all types here e.g. indulgent types who like sweet baked treats as well as the types who eat all of their food raw, or like to watch what they eat. They serve their salad in small, medium or large sizes. I found it pricey to be honest, except for maybe the large size which was $ 16, but it did look like you got a lot of salad. I chose the medium which was $ 11 and it just seemed a little high to me. That being said the salads were divine and I enjoyed every bite!

These guys know how to do healthy food, and to make it taste amazing! My favourite is the raw energy salad, it’s packed with beetroot, carrot, and nuts. It’s the perfect way to start that new diet, or else continue your sugary one with their amazing treats. Their coffee is just as good and was always a tempting pit stop on the way to work. The only thing I don’t like is they use paper plates and wooden utensils, which for their ‘green’ images seems a little wasteful. Their rubbish bin are always overflowing with used plates and it doesn’t really gel well with my conscience. They also have a cookbook that you can buy so you can make all their salads at home.

A Richmond Road institution, Ripe Deli has been serving up delicious coffee and food for as long as I’ve lived in Auckland. Choose from their yummy baps and wraps, or maybe a selection of salads is more your style. The freshly baked brioche is irresistible and the coffee consistently of an excellent standard. Just yesterday I went in for breakfast and tried their egg benedict breakfast bap — think sauteed spinach, ham, poached egg and hollandaise sauce in a warm, toasted bap = delicious and such a welcome change to the more traditional eggs benny!

I used to work in the same block as Ripe and would often head along there to spend my hard-earned dollars. It’s hard to resist Ripe — friendly people, bustling atmosphere and good food; who would deny themselves of this? Almost every day I would head downstairs for one of their delightful flat whites, and would often order a big, bold savoury brioche, which Ripe packs with spinach and capsicum and other deliciousness before baking it and serving them nice and hot. Get in quick if you want one though, they are always gone before 10.30am! For lunch, give their famous raw energy salad a go. It contains more beetroot than I bet you’ve ever consumed in one sitting, but don’t be skeptical, this salad is refreshing, colourful and good for you. For dinner, take one of their easy meals home. Simply whack them in the oven to heat and serve. Easy!
