My Flat Pack has a select few Ikea products and a small showroom in Parnell. It’s great for super cheap kids bedroom furniture — it’s not incredibly long lasting but does the trick. The guy that works there when i’ve been has always been super helpful and direct about what he’s selling and how long it will last.
Beware you need patience to put it together!

Well known for their dodgy meatballs, the Scandinavian brand ikea also brings modern furniture, décor and lighting products to the masses. All you need is a Phillips screw driver and the ability to follow instructions and you’re set. New Zealand still does not have a stand alone ikea store so this is the closest you are going to get. The showroom has a small selection of ikea products, if what you want is not is stock they can order it for you, but be prepared to wait. I came here with a friend of mine several months ago and he was told that the storage unit he was interested in would take 2 months to arrive. Stuff needing storing and so he could not wait, so no sale was made on that day.
However I was impressed by what was on show though and very well priced. You can order an entire custom built ikea kitchen and they will deal with all the shipping including customs and taxes, which is an awesome service. In particular ikea is fantastic for cheap storage and items like tables and chairs. You can see why ikea is so popular, when you have a budget you can get a lot for your money here. The store is bright and cheerful and the staff are quick to help you too.
