Hamic Cafe

Great meals, nice coffee, friendly staff. Very full this morning however staff bought more chairs and tables into the courtyard for customers just arriving.

Met here for a coffee meet-​up and it was a bit difficult to find as it is tucked away next to a nutrition store.
I ordered a short black and a salmon eggs benedict and sat down with my newly found coffee group. The short black was strong (I’m still getting used to New Zealand terminology) but not bitter, like a traditional cup of espresso, so I would liken it to a ristretto. The eggs benedict, while good, left something to be desired as I was still hungry after eating it. May have been due to my avoidance of the bagel, which comprised of 60% of the meal (striving to be Paleo).
We were still chatting about Australia and Russia when I decided to grab a Flat White whilst I was still sitting there. I like to have something to do with my hands while listening to a conversation, and cancer sticks aren’t my thing.
All in all, the venue was nice and cozy and conducive to meeting up with friends and chatting for a while. I will need to have their salmon omelette next time, as I was not completely satisfied with the amount of food that I had received.
Although, that may just be the American talking.

This place is hidden away slightly just off the main street of Milford. Great cosy location and one of the only places in Milford with a significant amount of outdoor seating. Their customer service is genuinely warm and has a down-​to-​earth homely feel.
I had an absolutely delicious spicy chai! This would be my main recommendation! I combined it with the feta scrambled eggs and made them free-​range for an extra dollar (appreciated this and one dollar seems a fair deal to me). It was good, don’t get me wrong but for the price point I thought it was a little mis-​matched compared to some other cafes. The food was good and I have nothing to complain about at all, but just a little pricey for what was on offer. In saying that, they have some other interesting dishes on their menu and I would definitely stop by again for a chai!
