5 stars. And I give this away because this place truly deserve it. Romantic, for friends, for families, for tourists AND even diabetics. The name promises on the chocolate. It is beyond yummy. Recommend the chocolate pot or the dolce chocolate. You can take a few chocolates away or even gift them if you desire. If you get a chocolate craving… Get in there.

If it weren’t for the grumpy and borderline rude waiters in this place I would not hesitate in giving it five stars. It has a wonderful atmosphere that is enough to have a retreat and take a break from the world and its noise.

I’ve been to Chocolate Boutique twice. Each time I ordered the waffles, first time I ordered the berries waffles and second time I ordered the maple waffle. Both were served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate shavings. The place gets really crowded so be prepared to wait in line to get orders in and to find a table. The second time I was a bit disappointed because the shop workers did not clear the tables. There were multiple open tables but customers couldn’t sit down because there were dirty dishes. I hope they make sure to be more attentive. Overall, a cute little place with so many chocolate and non-chocolates desserts and treats to choose from.

Any place that serves chocolate in many forms is a favourite of mine. Quick afternoon stop for an affogato with shots of coffee and chocolate on the side. Hot chocolate and brownie got the thumbs up too. Must come here more often.

After so so so many times of walking past this place over the years we were finally lured in to sample its sweet treats. It may at first look like there is very little seating except what is out front, but venture right in and you will see there are more tables out back. A beautiful area to sit in on a beautiful sun filled day. The first thing i could say i love about the place is the sign outside the door stating«there is no free wifi. Talk to each other and pretend it is 1993 ». Love it. Despite my using the mobile to get on the internet when out and about, etc etc i am one of those who sometimes wishes we could go back to them good old days of no mobiles and no computers. Anyway on entering you are greeted by a vast array of chocolates on shelves packed into the smallish front shop. All tempting, but for once my will power was strong and i walked out later empty handed. As always i am quite big on taking note of the service in a café /restaurant, and in here i found that that was somewhat lacking when first entering. No hello, no smiles, Yet three staff stood around chatting in full view of customers. We grabbed a menu and chose and then placed our order at the counter. I don, t care that you have to order at counter but the fact there was no welcome of any kind on entering really gets to me. Anyway we ordered an iced coffee and crème brûlée and as if in the hope that they would make up for the poor service they were both delicious. No complaints at all there. The atmosphere within is good and the price not too bad. Would definitely return again and in the hope the staff are a bit more welcoming!

I went to Chocolate Boutique for the first time last night after talking about going for years. I was amazed at how large the menu is. It’s large! Pages and pages of hot chocolate drinks, cakes and hot and cold desserts. It was really hard to choose. The three of us ended up splitting the Smore Sundae(cookie crumbs, vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge sauce and toasted marshmellows), Banoffee Sundae(hokey pokey ice cream, whipped cream, salted caramel sauce and sliced banana) and chocolate pot. I expected the Smore Sundae to be my favourite but surprisingly it was the banoffee sundae, the salted caramel sauce was just right. The cookie crumbs were a bit too large and hard for me. The coffee pot was delicious, but a little bit on the sweet side although it was improved with cream. I wanted to take something home so I bought a few of their chocolates which were also delicious. I’m keen to go back and try more of their dessert and hot chocolate options. Who doesn’t love a dessert date?

Yep… hard core chocolate in all its possible forms. Very well done. Very busy. But hey… Bill Clinton visited back in the day with Chelsea so it must be good! I did dock them one star because the front counter person could be a little more friendly.

Hadn’t been here for about ten years, so was keen to try it out again after a strong recommendation by a friend. Was easy to get seating between 6 – 7 pm on a Thursday night, with nice views towards the city and the War Memorial Café. Our table had a couple of plates and glasses on it from the previous patrons and a few smears of whipped cream over the table. Annoyingly, our table still hadn’t been cleared after 45 minutes, even though there were very few customers. Ended up clearing the table myself and asking for a cloth to wipe it down(although someone did come over and wipe down the table in the end). The service was pretty insipid as well — i’m not sure whether they were just having a bad day, but there was no greeting when we entered the store(a simple hello/evening I think is pretty standard, no?) and the waitresses looked pretty miserable. On the flip side, the menu is quite substantial, and I was impressed by the prices — much cheaper than what you would pay in a restaurant or upmarket café. But the difference is that the quality of the food is fairly average — not of restaurant quality, whipped cream/chocolate mousse straight out of a can, a raspberry tart with no raspberries on top, basic presentation(you get the point). But it’s absolutely fine if you just want a chocolate and sugar hit, and a nice place to meet friends.

Yum! The Chocolate Boutique rates high on my list of places to go for dessert. They have more and more options every time I visit. I usually prefer to get an Italian hot chocolate(so thick you need a spoon!) although their sundaes and waffles and chocolate puddings are really great too. They also have mini chocolates and candy you can buy. yummy!

Chocolate!!! Heard about this place from a friend so decided to take me mum for a treat. we went in early on a sunday arvo and were lucky to find a table as within 30 minutes the place was packed and people had to wait for tables. Spoilt for choices, the wait was long though but we just soaked in the atmosphere. we tried the crème brulee and the chocolate tiramisu although death by chocolate was sooooo inviting :) Def a revisit once I lose off the calories… Staff were very friendly and nice and parking was not a problem as it was a sunday so free and surprisingly not busy for parnell.

Nice rich chocolate. Its quite small so if you come during peak hours, don’t expect to get a table but besides that, this intimate boutique is pretty good.

I like to stop here at least once every time I’m in Auckland, mostly for the denso(thick hot chocolate) that is one of their specialties, though I’ve tried their individual chocolates and ice-cream-based drinks, which are also very good, but nothing beats the denso. They sell little gift boxes of chocolates too, which make great gifts. Be aware that you need to make your order and pay at the counter. I have noticed that tables don’t always get cleared quickly. There have been times I’ve had to just clear a table myself, and sometimes the chairs and tables have sticky chocolate on them from previous customers. It’s a small shop, so seating is limited(though apparently there is now some extra seating on the back deck, which I haven’t seen yet), and sometimes totally unavailable on weekends or during other busy times, so it can pay to visit, say, during the middle of the day on a weekday rather than on Friday or Saturday evening. Outside seating is pleasant during good weather, though as with indoor seating it is limited. Overall a good place with great chocolate, and worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I haven’t been back to this place for a long time. Mainly because of the lack of seatings available. This place gets very busy from 8pm till late and you will usually see a queue of people waiting outside for dessert! We arrived this time to the place has been extended at the back with more seating. There are still the queue of people waiting outside though the turn over time for each table is a lot quicker. We sat down and ordered our dessert. While I wait eagerly for my waffle with berry toppings we heard breaking noises coming from the kitchen… it seem that someone has shattered a plate of dessert or two. The girls in the kitchen are very very busy, Then they finally delivered my dessert and to my disappointment, the waffle just wasn’t right… it was soggy and looks as it was pre-made and heated back up… The ice cream was half melted when it got to me… overall, i would give it a 4⁄10. :( However, my friend ordered a chocolate mud cake and chocolate waffle. The waffle even has a birthday msg written on it for the birthday boy. I guess I should stick with their specialties… CHOCOLATE and NOT try different thing. I will be back to try other thing. :)

This place is great for either a mid-day treat or after dinner if you are looking for something sweet. Would be a PERFECT location for a date! Great outdoor tables and SOOOOO much chocolate everywhere. The Italian Denso was TDF(like liquid chocolate) and the desserts look scrumptious and inexpensive too. Will definitely be going back to try more!

Cool place! No wonder there are a lot of people just waiting outside for a free table. We were pretty lucky, as we went in and a couple has just finished, so we took that table. Later, when we finished, there were about 10 people waiting for a table. If you want some high quality chocolate this is the place to go! In fact, it is the only place to go for a real chocolate in Auckland! Just don’t order chocolate drink with some chocolate mud cake :-) insane mix. I was overdosed with this amount of sugar that day.

Chocolate is sadly a good friend of mine, and this place makes me love it even more. Who would’ve thought you could do so much with chocolate? I can spend hours looking at their chocolate cabinet, drooling a little embarrassingly. I love their gluten free chocolate cupcake. If you get it, make sure you ask to have it heated up because it makes the chocolate icing go all gooey. Yum. This place is quite a mission to get into sometimes, which just proves how good it is. Maybe they need some more tables outside to supply the demand. I’d avoid it on Valentine’s Day especially, but then who can resist chocolate really?

My friends had mentioned the Chocolate Boutique to me on numerous occasions before I went there and always said that it was absolutely amazing, so my expectations of the place before going were sky-high. So how pleased I was when I finally got the opportunity to go there myself and found that my expectations were exceeded… and then some. Literally everything chocolate you could possibly want under one tiny, unassuming roof. From old favourites like chocolate fondue and bowl-sized portions of hot chocolate next to new and exotic delights in the vein of peanut butter chocachinos and Mexican densos(essentially spiced, drinkable melted chocolate in a glass). Also good news for the diabetics and coeliacs in the community, as the café offers a wide array of usually out of bounds delights like cookies and muffins to treat your delicate immune systems. It really is no wonder that this seven-tabled café often has queues all the way down the road. The cobbled street outside, olde worlde mahogany interiors and, of course, the big amounts of Belgian Brown make you feel like you’ve stepped into Bruges without leaving suburban Auckland. The only problem with the place is choosing just one(or in my case, three), things off of the extensive menu.

Don’t go near this place if you’re on a diet. Seriously. This place has a extensive menu. Pages and pages filled with every kind of chocolate treat imaginable. I feel like I need to go to Chocoholics Anonymous after going here. I just want to eat everything. I am a bit more subdued when I go, for fear of looking like a pig. I have tried the chocolate cake, shake, shot, jaffa hot chocolate and brownie(not all in one visit). All are heavenly, except you do tend to feel a bit ill afterwards(luckily they have water on hand!). They also have a chocolate cabinet and shelves filled with lolly jars. The only downfall of this place is that it’s tiny, and quite often it is hard, if not impossible to find a seat. I realise this is not the fault of the owners, as they cannot do much to extend the seating area. However, do not expect to be accomodated if you visit on a Friday or Saturday night.
