Their roti was so amazing! Nice little find. Will definitely be back to try all the other delicious looking food.

We eat here fairly regularly. Service is great and the staff are friendly. Food is darn close to what I’ve had in KL.

We arrived at 715 on a Saturday night and this little hole in the wall was packed. We decided to get takeaway rather than wait and this was OK by us. The portions were large but you need to order rice. The Roti were disappointing as they were a little greasy for our tastes. Overall a good meal and cheap but not in Mamaks class.

I hear many good things about this place from all my Malaysian friends so i had to come and try it out. This place is pumping. such a small space with minimal seating inside but people are willing to wait for seats(seriously there’s like 4 – 5 small tables inside and one round table that can seat 6 people comfortably… this place is small…) if people are waiting at 8.30pm for a table then this one must be amazeb*lls good… Anyways there were only two of us so we didn’t get to try much but that beef rendang with that mouthwatering roti… heavenly with an explosion of flavours and would go sooooo good with some rice too. And that fried fish head noodle soup… wow so milky and flavourful and the fish head was so delicious!!! fried and sealed in with flavours then put into the soup to soak in the flavours of the soup… dreamy haha only downside to this dish was the noodles they used… i personally dont like thin rice noodles… because they dont soak in the soup flavours but other than that… really good tasty dishes and quite cheap too! would definitely recommend. this place seems like its very secretive lol. WHYISNOTONESPREADINGTHENEWS??? that roti guys… order 5 at once… no joke

Read many great things about this Malaysian restaurant and it was just about finding an occasion to hit it up for ourselves and see what all the fuss was about. Based on other ravings, we ordered a mix of plates such as the coffee spare ribs, beef rendang and nasi lemak. Never tried authentic Malay food before and this was a great start. The pork(mix of some with and others without bones) arrived on an oval plate with green leaves, onion slices and the sweet coffee sauce– completely unique. Never had anything quite like it– but did enjoy it. Do recommend the coffee spare ribs, especially if you are fan of coffee. The rendang arrived on a sizzling stone plate in the shape of a flat cow, on wood. Really fragrant black pods, and nicely spiced with lemon grass and kaffir lime leaves. Another excellent choice. Got the chicken nasi lemak which was a huge mix of things; spicy peanuts, onion sauce with cucumber pieces, half of egg, crunchy anchovies with coconut rice. The chicken was on the bone in a yum orange, red-dy soup. Really enjoyed all the components. We also got the spicy prawn noodle soup which arrived in a huge bowl– definitely a filler-upper. Chinese tea in traditional tea pots while waiting for the dishes. A small hole in the wall among the mixed Highbury shops– with it’s big front window and roll down shades. A red wall with cream wood outlines and a lazy susan in the big central table with extra stools if you have a big group. Other tables for couples and small groups with high backed chairs. Recommend this highly if you are in the mood for Malay or have never tried it!

Fantastic authentic Malaysian food– takeout is recommended, dining in is only for the brave. Like KK Malaysian in Manakau Rd, Chef Rasa has amazing food but is a bit grim when dining in. The space is tiny and always rammed– I wish they could take over the neighbouring shop but c’est la vie. We often have visitors over and order takeout and it’s been a hit so far. I believe they offer the best ‘Beef Rendang’ in Auckland, it’s a bold claim but I’ll stand by it. The beef is so tender. The ‘Oat Flavoured King Prawns’- sweet cereal crunches over juicy prawns. The homemade ‘Malaysia Style Deep Fried Tofu’- big fluffy cubes of rich tofu. The ‘Fried Keuy Teow’ noodles and the ‘Coffee Spare Ribs’, pork chops coated in coffee and possibly sweetened condensed milk, don’t overthink it, the dish is amazing. Also does a solid laksa. Only duds we’ve ever ordered have been the ‘Salt and Pepper Squid’ otherwise Chef Rasa is a real find.

Authentic Malaysian food, highly recommend the Nasi Lemak. They do not take bookings for 2 people though which sucks. So go early to get a table. Service is ok, the staff should learn to smile more

Omg. It is the best Malaysian restaurant I have been. The food was so nice. We will definitely go back. But the place is a bit dirty. But overall, very good
