We are visiting from California, and stumbled upon this place, waiting to go to the airport. Coffee is excellent, prices are very reasonable, very nice relaxed atmosphere. Love that it is family owned and operated, too! We only had baked goods, but the other brunch/breakfast items we saw being served looked great. Lots of space, tables, sofas, etc.

OMG so good! One of the tastiest Chicken sandwiches I’ve had in a long time! Perfect balance of fillings and sauces! And the staff are so lovely!

brunch on Sunday. great café, lots of space it’s big! Went for the specials board, yummy mince on toast and the Mr had potato cakes and salmon. great food and reasonable price plus we got our coffees free. …plus a rockstar park out the front(seemed to be loads of parks out the front). Toddler friendly with high chairs and a play area with toys — fantastic. Could this be my new neighbourhood fav… to early to say. But it’s in the lead.

Really nice ambiance and friendly staff but let’s be honest, the food isn’t great. I had mushrooms on toast. The mushrooms were mostly whole and the sauce was thin. Liked the ambiance so much that I think I’ll try again but I’m really hoping the food is better next time around so I can change this rating and stack or all up to a bad day. Onehunga needs a good café.

This is a great addition to Onehunga. The staff are excellent and the food well priced and generous. In particular the extensive range of cakes and slices are huge and exceptional value. Definitely go here.

Nice little café — good to see this building finally seeing a bit of action after years of empty chairs and tables. Staff really friendly and service is good. I can’t comment on the food because I’m vegan, and although they have been happy to make us an avo/tomato bagel when we’ve wanted brunch, they don’t have anything vegan on their menu, which is something I always keep an eye out for.

The highlight for me here is the great staff. Really friendly and seem genuinely interested in their customers. The coffee is strong and the food is a win across the board. This is my new local. Kid friendly and dog tolerant

I’ve driven past this place a few times since it opened three months ago and as an urgent need for food and Frappé hit, today was the day. At around 2pm on a Tuesday there were parks available on both sides of the road(that short term parking thing is good on such occasions). The man behind the counter was super friendly, asking me about my day but not in an annoyingly nosy way. I ordered a Mocha Frappé and piece of Spinach, Feta and Tomato Quiche from the cabinet to take away. The menu looked great with all the usual suspects(Eggs Bene, Pancakes etc) but no time to wait so the cabinet it was. Which was probably a mistake. I heated the quiche when I got home and it was fine, just a bit on the«eggy» side — yes, yes I know, I’m fussy and quiche is made with eggs y’all. I get it. I know cabinet food is made for endurance so it was no great surprise. I did however appreciate the wee tub of sweet tomato relish that came with my quiche. If I had gone with something sweet I have no doubt everything was a winner — it looked so bad it just had to be good(see my pic). So the Frappé was the fresh kind and back to my pickiness, I’ve actually got a bit of a thing going on for the branded multi-flavoured ones, with White Chocolate and Vanilla Latte being my faves. But that would require a characterless chain café so let’s not go there. This frappé was lovely and hit my caffeine spot satisfactorily on this scorching day. Bean There are doing everything right; there were 3 copies of today’s Herald laid neatly on one of the tables, a nice squishy comfy corner seating area, a high chair, several shelves of books for the squishy seating area, a condiment table(heaven!), a fridge full of soy milk and boutiquey branded beverages… did I mention the friendly staff? The lovely man behind the counter told me he and his mum have bought the place and his background is four years as Food & Bev Manager on cruise ships. The layout has not changed a lot from its(many) predecessors with a seated area upstairs. Currently they are awaiting their liquor license so are only open for breakfast/brunch/lunch but watch this space. I will be back for a proper sitdown meal one of these days soon and in the meantime I really wish this place well so check it out. Onehunga already has a few cool cafes and quite a few duds — this one is definitely a go-er so GO.
