Points for friendly service. Unlike Healthrow, I have been unable to find a good place to buy GSM SIM cards in either of Copenhagen Kastrup or Bergen Flesland airports. Not that I expect it to always be as easy as it was in Heathrow, but people tend to look at me as though I’m crazy. «Let me get this straight. You’re obviously not from around here, and yet, you want to have local cell phone service?» I figured this would be a common request, what with all the comparatively easy inter-​Europe (and especially inter-​Scandinavia) travel, but maybe Europe’s GSM carriers don’t beat you up on international roaming like T-​Mobile US does. $ 15/​MB for data? That’s…just uncalled for.
Anyway — In the Galleriet, on the first floor, there is a handy little cell phone kiosk, and for once, the clerk knew exactly what I wanted and wasn’t stumped by the question. Here’s your options, here’s the rates, here’s how to top-​up, be aware the voice prompts when you call are Norwegian only, so just come back if you need help activating a top-​up. Very friendly, very helpful. So, if you’re traveling with an unlocked GSM phone and just need a local phone number or local data service, this is a good place to start.
