Excellent food and service in a little out of the way restaurant. It was Father’s Day and my husband couldn’t have been happier. We had the brunch special of pork neck, cabbage, apples and potatoes. The chef had a side of his homemade«catsup» which was roasted tomatoes, onions and cinnamon, yum! The beer that was recommended was perfect too. What a wonderful meal!

Terrific food, laid back people. The menu is posted on the wall. The croques are out of this world, especially late at night. Located close to the touristy bits, but far enough away to be very peaceful. There’s an epic couch-based sitting area in the back of the place — definitely ask if it’s available. What could be better than a glass of wine and a cheesy croque while sitting on a couch with your significant other! There are books and stuff there, very cool.

Great chili soup & good selection of local microbrews! Laid back atmosphere, especially in the sofa section in the back.

I’d give this place more stars because the food is actually quite good– fresh, carefully crafted, and good portions. However, I found the staff inconsistent. Came in from the rain — and hungry. The tables are all reserved for 8 and it was like 7. The guy told me he had no seats but I saw a few other people enjoying drinks –again, he said there wasn’t a seat for me– just outside in the rain. I gave him a wtf look and he said basically you can sit til 8. The place is so quaint-great location– so I sucked it up despite the rude service. Soup was better than the sandwich. Amazing local beer. The staff seemed happy and laughed a lot –created a warm vibe but the first impression lingers…

Bastant was one of the few choices we had for a late night bite — and we were not disappointed! The Smashing Basil martini, open face chicken salad and cheese /charcuterie board were all on point. Laid back bartender was kind, patient and helpful. Genuine local vibe that feels part coffee house part library. Great lighting and chill covers of every genres classic songs. We’ll be back!

Delicious, fresh food and a very comfortable atmosphere. Daily menu of soups, salads, combos, and desserts — depending when you go they may run out of some choices. Variety of local beers on tap and handmade cocktails. Great spot in a neighborhood away from the tourist locations with a local feel.

Cool place with an intimate setting. They have a selection of soups, sandwiches and other lunch dishes. The service drags the overall impression down quite a bit, they weren’t very attentive and it took quite a while before they noticed our presence and cleaned the table from the previous guests. However, they seemed quite busy, so that might explain parts of it. We ordered the panini and a root vegetable soup, and they were good, but not something we will remember. They also have a good selection of bottled beers, but they were extremely overpriced. The beer on tap was reasonable.

This café is excellent. Intimate, but casual ambiance. Lunch was fantastic. Delicious soups and sandwiches and you can mix and match(i.e. Half soup, half sandwich). The coffee and beer selection is great as well. The service was friendly and great. The meal will have a slow pace tho, so don’t come here if you’re in a rush. Prices are very reasonable by Bergen’s standards. You should definitely come here– Don’t question it.

Excellent soup, with something new every day. I think there is always a vegetarian option as well. Brunch in the weekends. It’s very small, so it can be hard to get a table. But I guess it’s popular for a reason — the soup and sandwich I had were artisanal and excellent. And the lemonade of the day with coconut milk and ginger, is something I will remember fondly for a long time. In short, it’s a wonderful place to go for a long, luxurious lunch. Maybe the girl behind the counter could smile a bit more, but considering the awful weather outside I can’t really blame her.
