Hotel Torre de Oro

The only word I can think of for this place is YUCK! Do not stay here unless you have no other options and then think again. Rooms are ugly and feel dirty, beds look like they might have bed bugs, no cups or shampoo in the bathroom, bed is hard and uncomfortable, a/​c doesn’t work, no hot water in the shower. The list goes on. I have never wanted to leave early from a hotel but I’m near that point.

Yes, this place is definitely charming (old) and conveniently located in the old town, but the beds are very hard and stiff with no give or bounce at all. I’ve haven’t even been here a full night yet but I can tell already my back is gong to have issues. The tv in my room didn’t work, so I looked around and found it was unplugged, so I plugged it in thinking it would work, it didn’t. Called down to reception and it took them just about two hours to replace it, without the remote. Picture was fuzzy, so I do appreciate their effort to fix my tv problem on Christmas Day with the hotel booked to full capacity, (so they say) but I’m glad I have my iPad and so far, wifi has been ok. The one saving grace. It is also not located on a beach. Next time I would stay in this part of town, but in a hotel on the beach. Also, I didn’t feel 100% safe in my room because only the flimsy self locking lock on the door knob worked and the deadbolt did not even though I was given two keys. I’m going to sleep with one eye open and fingers crossed nothing happens.
In summary, if you don’t watch tv on vacation, have a «que sera sera» attitude about your safety, don’t want to be on a sandy beach, and like hard beds in a charming part of town, this is the place for you

If you want to avoid the sanitized resorts with the screaming kids, soccer moms and time share hustles — than make sure you book here.
I’ve stayed at many Four Seasons and Ritz Carltons and have received less customer service than I’ve received here.
This is an older property but you’ll be right in the middle of everything. Steps to the beach, the bars and the best restaurants. From rooms with an ocean view to staff that is more than accommodating — you can not go wrong with this property.
