One of the absolute best. We’ve done many private guided tours on our various trips abroad. But Rod Ratner’s service stands out among the best. From the minute I emailed him with my questions regarding options, pricing, availability, concerns to the moment they promptly delivered our photos of our excursion via email, Rod and his team never failed to let my family down. My husband and I were traveling to Playa del Carmen for the first time… and we were traveling with a very inquisitive 5 yo, an infant, and lots of stuff. These are the things that stand out: Rod took a lot of time via emails and a personal phone call to answer our questions and make suggestions for our excursion based on our family’s needs and interests. Al, our guide, and Augustine, our driver, were prompt and had an immaculate comfortable van for us [with water and snacks]. Al was informative with all aspects of information related to history, culture, and activities. He was also soooo unbelievably patient with my son. When they dropped us at our hotel at the end of the day, we felt as though we’d had a memorable unique experience with a friend. And a few hours later they emailed us all the photos they’d been taking throughout our day. [An exceptionality nice touch so you don’t have to worry about bringing your camera and accidentally dropping it in the cenote!] I cannot recommend Rod’s team enough especially if you’re traveling with kids. They get you to the ruins before the mass of buses [we saw them walking in just as we were walking out]. They know of local restaurants and cenotes that aren’t trampled on by hundreds of tourists. It’s a first rate way to experience the region. Thank you, Rod, Al, and Augustine!

We just had our custom tour last weekend, and Patricio was our guide!!! Let me say that we had a great time! Literally from start to finish! It was a perfect trip! We did so many activities in one tour and we avoided lines and people!!! And the best thing is that it was just my husband, me Patricio and our driver Augustin! I not only explored the rivera maya but I also learned a lot about the Mayan culture! It was amazing! I would totally recommend this tour to all my family and friends!!!
There was a small snack basket waiting for us in the van and cold water bottles. because it was going to be long day with a bunch of activities!
We had lunch at a nice beachfront restaurant! And they had the best margaritas!!! Patricio was so knowledgeable about everything! He became a friend so quickly!!! We felt so comfortable with him!
Patricio took a bunch of photos for us! He even used my go pro and to take our photos as well just to make sure we got enough photos!!! We didn’t have to worry! And the photos were emailed to us within a day or two! We had a blast!!!
If you’re thinking about doing a tour in cancun… do it with The custom tour!!! Avoid people and the lines!!! This is the only way to go to discover and explore cancun!

Rod customized an amazing, off the beaten bath, day for my family of 6 adults and 3 toddlers that included a trip to Tulum and an afternoon at an eco park operated by a small Mayan Village. His van was new, clean, comfortable, safe… and he included 3 baby seats! All 9 of us, babies included were able to zipline, canoe, swim in a cenote… and share a fabulous, authentic lunch prepared by the Mayan Community! The best food we had while in the Riviera! We never imagined that we could spend a day of fun and adventure like this with 3 babies! Rod, and Tanya, shared their knowledge of local customs and treated us like family! Rod was easy to work with responding immediately to all my emails… and customized the perfect baby friendly day! I would highly recommend The Custom Tour!
