I used to work in SS14 and that’s how I found out about Well Cook Gourmet — and I am so glad I did! I absolutely love their fried laksa! I usually go for large which is RM2 more expensive than the normal one(RM7.50) — some people might find it a lil’ pricey but it is so worth it! I have not tried fried laksa before this, so I find it very special! The popiah here is also pretty popular and quite tasty. Generally, everything on the menu is pretty good — but if you are here for the first time, go for the fried laksa! What sucks about this place is that parking is very difficult during lunch — parking is relatively easy at night but come before it closes at 9pm! It can also get quite crowded during lunch, so you might have to wait for a table — but the service here is quite fast, so it’s worth the(usually short) wait.

I found out about this place by accident one day. This restaurant is in the Chinese food area in SS14 that serves Chinese food but it is halal. It’s a bit hard to find parking here especially during peak mealtimes. This restaurant is well known for their Assam Laksa Goreng. It really does taste like Assam Laksa but without the soup and for a fairly large portion of just RM7.50. But if you want the original version then they have it too. Another thing that’s great here is the popiah. Like all non-fried popiah it’s made on order and served immediately which I think is the best time to eat it. The service is a bit slow during meal times as the restaurant is always packed then. The restaurant isn’t air conditioned so it may get a bit too warm, especially during lunch time. Getting a table can be a little hard but for the food it’s totally worth the wait.

Difficult to find parking during lunch hour… but you will definitely find your way here for the fried assam laksa(RM7.50). The taste is superb which I can’t get anywhere else until now. We do order for Fried Koay Teow(RM7.50), the taste not bad as well. The 3 layer tea(RM3.60) is also superb. But the thing can be improve is serve as customer demand. I always asked for less ice, but when it’s serve, the ice is full of glass.

I was introduced to Well Cook Gourmet by a fellow Subang-ian who was shocked that I’ve never heard of Fried Laksa. What is Fried Laksa? Well its sort of a mix between your usual Curry Laksa and fried kuey teow I guess. It’s basically a dry laksa. It has all the familiar flavours such as the tangy lime taste of your curry laksa. The owner of this place has even appeared on a few local TV shows because of his signature dish. When I was there the TV in the restaurant was playing his TV debut on repeat. Another one of his signature dishes is his popiah. Parking here during the lunch hour is next to impossible as it normally is the case in the SS14 area. Carpooling would be a better idea or expect to go around the block multiple times before you get a parking spot.

Though this place serves no pork, Well Cook Gourmet has been attracting people thanks to its unique fried laksa dish. Standing out from the crowd of shops selling bak kut teh and chicken rice, the fried laksa is a cross between char keuy teow and laksa itself. The fat laksa noodles are fried in a spicy laksa paste together with beansprouts and chilli topped with onion and pineapple strips as garnish. It’s a delightful mix of spicy and smoky flavours, binded by a little sourness synonymous with asam laksa. Another dish I also like from this place is their popiah, lined with a spicy sauce that makes it more vibrant. The wait can get a little long during lunch peak hour and parking is scarce. The owner and his son are friendly as they usually try to get you a seat. They also offer other chinese dishes such as wantan mee and claypot chicken rice. Come early for dinner as the place closes at 9pm.
