Indeed it taste good, the price is affordable and service is acceptable. But, has anyone peeked into the kitchen? It honestly looks worst then a public toilet, really greasy and dirty. I once saw a baby cockroach crawling in an empty bowls at the kitchen. Hygiene is extremely important and this restaurant is filthy.

This is a great place for a quick lunch/dinner in Asian Avanue, one of the few places which is more appetizing and fills up the tummy well. This is Taiwanese food that served crispy salted chicken rice with bubble tea drinks. Honestly I like the combination. I had a ordinary Salted chicken meal with Honey Lychee bubble tea drink, may look small but it was enough for my lunch. They have other set meals that adds additional stuff as well. Mine cost about rm12++ for a good simple meal. The downside is that it can get really pack during lunch and dinner hours, so try to come before or after. or get lucky! Try out this place!

It was my second time eating here today and I must say that I’m really starting to like this place. Not only is the food affordable but also worth it’s price– nothing above RM20! Formosa is known for their lobak rice and the restaurant is always packed with people. Seating is a bit of a problem but not impossible as many customers leave after finishing their meal. The last time I was here, I ordered the Set D4 which was the Taiwanese Salted Chicken Set with braised sauce rice, egg and tofu. I really enjoyed my meal. Today I ordered the Set G3 which was the Lo Bak Spinach noodle set with braised egg and tofu. My first impression on the noodles were, «wow, it taste really healthy». Even though it tasted really healthy, I liked the mixture of lobak with noodles. They were also very generous with the amount of vegetables given which I was very thankful for. My boyfriend on the other hand, ordered Set B2 which was the Hot Crispy Chicken set with braised sauce rice and a drink. Personally I like Shilin’s chicken better in comparison with this but I liked the combination of gravy and rice which made it very appetizing. For drinks, he chose the Grass Jelly Milk tea which was actually not grass jelly at all! It tasted more like gui ling gao which was yummy but the milk tea was just mediocre.

Oooh I think I have found my fix for quick Taiwanese cuisine besides the street snacks from Shihlin Taiwan! Formosa offers a wide enough selection of different types of set meals either with noodle or rice, some with a drink of your choice all at a very affordable rate! My boyfriend ordered a braised rice set meal that comes with pickled vegetables, a plate of fried chicken cubes, a hard boiled egg, stewed tofu, and a bubble tea and it is only at RM13.90! I took the Loh Bak Spinach Noodle that also came with egg and tofu and paid RM9 for it without a drink. They even have«economy» sets with simpler food choices. Quite packed on a Saturday afternoon and with limited seats, we were lucky to have found a place to seat else the guy was gonna suggest if we could take away! I really liked the braised rice, rice was cooked well and it was flavorful especially with the ham choi, I thought that the fried chicken was nothing to shout about. My «spinach» noodle was green, and it was adorned with a LOT of shredded cucumbers and carrots. A little taken aback at first,(not a fan of raw carrot), it was surprisingly quite a good combination with the noodle. It has some black sauce, and there was plenty of lean and fatty stewed pork. My bowl of noodles was quite big and I couldnt finish it, not too sure if it was because it started tasting a little bland after a while. Nonetheless, I was quite satisfied with my lunch and I think the rice and loh bak combination would be even better next time, The bubble tea was just OK. Despite it being run by foreigners, I have no complains of service or quality.
