Second time here! I was looking forward to my Aglio Olio again. Alas it was quite a bit different. So consistency is a challenge here. Still tasted good though. But service on the other hand. I’m not sure what happened. We had a server who knew we needed a menu but totally avoided us for awhile. My wife had the salad, it was okay, but pricey for something that was predominantly green. Will I still come back? Yeah maybe, but for such prices the service and food consistency needs to be better.

We like the food and service the first time we were here. But today when we went back the second time, it’s kinda suck. I wore green and seated at a place full of plants, so maybe that’s why they couldn’t see us, because no one came to give us the menu! Anyway, I ordered salad and they came back to me and said they don’t have that particular salad. Then I ordered the only salad they have — Crispy Steak Salad with honey mustard dressing, RM23. Erm, I’d say. it’s overpriced for a plate full of coral lettuce, bits of avocado and randomly sliced cucumber, onion and sour cherry tomatoes, topped with tiny bit of crispy steak slices. The steak was powder-dry, and a little bland. The lettuce wasn’t fresh either, because there’s wilted leaves around. The dressing was delicious though. Not sure if I want to go back again. Maybe not.

The two 5-star reviews piqued my curiosity to try out this new joint. I even ordered the aglio olio because of one of them. It was a full house on Saturday night. Service was okay, efficient, alert for your raised hand. The menu items were your standard Melbourne-café template fare. Our beef bacon aglio olio was DRENCHED in olive oil. It was the first thing you could smell. I sent it back because of that. Our steak waffles looked good at first. Fries were on point. But they were stingy with the steak, drowned the waffles in mayo, and there was no dressing on the salad. It didn’t take too long till we were just eating waffles and onions. The waffle texture itself was fine. We went with key lime pie for dessert. There was too much whipped cream(which wasn’t set enough, no stiff peak) and the lime custard didn’t look like it was made properly. It was slightly curdled and the base was too wet, so the bite top to bottom was soft sugar mush. My dinner partner is a huge sugar fiend and even then the key lime pie was too sweet for them. There was a lot of hype over this place and I’m happy we tried it but there are better Melbourne clone cafes out there, even within Publika. Dinner just wasn’t worth RM70+. Proceed with caution.

I noticed this new restaurant last time I was in Publika and decided next time I was in the area I would eat there. The food here seems to have a Belgian twist with their signature mussels and bottomless fries or garlic bread being a popular choice. My partner and I shared a pot of mussels and we opted for a chilli butter sauce base and garlic bread to accompany them. We fell in love at first bite! This was some seriously good food and the price was reasonable at something like 55rm. Other than the delicious food the service was good and the atmosphere was lively with the open kitchen and indoor outdoor flow. Definitely one to check out!
