Tong Kee Bread & Tarts is located strategically opposite Hotel Sri Petaling and the rows of businesses. Walking into the bakery, you will be greeted by a widespread array of baked goods and cakes. They are famous for their egg tarts and kaya puffs. The iconic egg tart has a great texture to it; the crust isn’t too flaky so it doesn’t break as you bite into it, while the custard in the middle has the spongiest texture giving it the right bounce. It melts as it hits your tongue and reveals a blast of sweetness and the taste of butter enhances all your taste buds. Be sure to head over early if you’re planning to get a huge batch as they run out really fast. Prices are reasonable but can definitely improve on customer service.

To be honest I only tried their egg tarts and I love them! Every time I visit the bakery I would buy a whole box and bring it home to my family. For the price for about RM2 bucks per egg tart I would say it’s A star. I like that their crust is very soft and crunchy, like freshly bakes croissants and the egg portion is soft, buttery and lightweight. I am not a dessert person but I whenever I think of egg tarts, this is the only place that pops into my mind. Do pick em up when they’re fresh out of the oven! That’s the best time to eat them.

It is such a coincidence that I visited to Tong Kee Bread & Tarts. Me and my boyfie went to have our dinner at that area during one of the Sunday. Since we will be working the next day, thus we went to to Tong Kee Bread & Tarts to buy our breakfast. There were 3 bakeries around, the same row or the opposite row. However, we realised that only Tong Kee has the crowd but other no. Although it was already nighttime, they still have many choices of pastries and breads. I saw a lot of patrons grabbed their egg tarts and some grabbed their cakes. Seems that these are the signature pastries in Tong Kee. Nonetheless, I didn’t follow the trend. I only got myself a hotdog bun and a cheese bun. The bread was soft and still fresh although I only consumed it the next day. The cheese was delicious. In short, I will return to Tong Kee Bread & Tarts again. And maybe try out their egg tarts since many patrons love it so much.

TK Bakery is most famous among those who live in and around Sri Petaling for their egg tarts. I have given their egg tarts a try and found them rather ok, but not outstanding. I have given this place a 5 star rating actually for their other baked products. I love their luncheon meat buns, with or without eggs. Another favorite of mine their green tea rolls baked with little bits of red bean paste and cream centers. All their cakes are fluffy and not overly sweet, just the way I like it. They have a product called snow cakes, dusted in icing sugar, that really melt in your mouth. The service is very fast and therefore there is hardly a line despite the high number of patrons.
