If you love steamboat and shabu shabu, then you should definitely try Sukiya! At Sukiya you are allowed to choose two types of soups. I would normally choose the miso base and the kimuchi base. The kimuchi base is slightly spicy so if you’re a fan of spicy food, try that. The thinly sliced meat here are also free flow depending on the amount you can eat. You can choose between chicken, lamb and beef. Lamb and beef are my favorites. I also love the many varieties of veges, tofu and toppings which you can put into the soup. The cheesy tofu is a must try! Also, the prices here are not very pricey especially if you’re a big eater or extremely hungry. Service is pretty good as well :)

If you’re a fan of buffet and Japanese food, you must have heard of Sukiya! Basically, Sukiya serves Japanese steamboat in buffet style. For lunch, each adult is expected to pay RM29.80+ nett per pax whereas for dinner, adults pay around RM40+ nett per pax. While the price may seem a little high, fear not if you can eat a lot! You will be given a choice of several soup bases, in which my favourites are Sukiyaki and Miso, though there are a few more decent ones. Plates of meat, fresh vegetables and other ingredients are free flow. To top it off, there is also free ice cream and sushi! If you love Japanese food like I do, this is paradise for us. The service there were also quite good; they were friendly to me and my friends and they responded to our orders at a fast pace. Sukiya serves good quality food and I highly recommend this place because it’s quite cheap for the quality of food they are serving. There is also another outlet in Paradigm mall.

Suki-Ya is one of the good Japanese Shabu-shabu buffet restaurant. By paying a price of a person(RM29.80 for lunch; RM38.90 for dinner), you can enjoy the free flow of meats(serve in chicken, beef and lamb) for two hours! Well, same as other«Steamboat» restaurant, it also serve vegetables, fish balls, fu zhok etc. Besides that, they serve ice cream(green tea, chocolate and mixture of both) as well. With the price of that, you can enjoy all of the food above, so I would say it is actually quite CHEAP! They serve 4 different kind of soup bases, such as shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, miso soup and Kimuchi. Each pot you may ask for 2 different soup bases. Usually, my choice will be sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. First, I deep thinly sliced meat into boiling sukiyaki stock. Once it is ready, i will dip the meat into beaten raw egg then its house source and begin to enjoy. If I am not worry about my weight, I would have come here every week. LOL!

As a meat lover myself, Suki-Ya is quite a good place to go to for buffet if you can eat loads of meat. It’s actually reasonable if you can eat a lot and thats the whole point of buffet anyways right? To eat as much as you can but just make sure you don’t fill your stomach with food till you can’t walk. The variety of food here is not too bad. You can pick your own choice of vegetables, noodles and seafood whereby as for the meat you gotta order with the waiters. Choice of meat will be beef, lamb and chicken. The meat is thinly sliced so you probably won’t get satisfied if you don’t get seconds. But you only have 2 hours to eat, so better keep track on your time and different price for dinner and lunch as well! Taste: 7⁄10 Parking: 5⁄10 Ambiance: 5⁄10(gets rather hot) Cleanliness: 6⁄10 Food Variety: 6⁄10 Business Hours: 11.30am — 5.00pm(Lunch) 5.00pm — 10.00pm(Dinner)

Sukiya is the go to place for unlimited fresh beef. Note the word: unlimited. It’s decently priced to stuff yourself full with japanese steamboat. It has a variety of soups as the base and my personal favorite is the sukiyaki base. I would order that and pair it with the selection of vegetables and meat that are available in a bar in the middle of the restaurant. There is an option to choose which kind of meat you would want to cook with. The staff there are an overall friendly batch of people. They assist when needed and the service is pretty decent. I would say take a bunch of friends who are in desperate need to chow down some meat because it is definitely worth it. Get your stomach prepared for some serious soup and meat though.

Best syabu-syabu buffet in Mont Kiara! They serve unlimited slices of beef/lamb alongside a comprehensive selection of fresh side dishes you can add into your soup. They also have a soft serve machine which dispenses Chocolate/Green Tea/Choco + Green Tea ice cream.

Everyone will know Suki-Ya for its unlimtied meat servings. Thats what got me going in the first place. It was a nice experience there and I did return a few more times. The soup are available in four different variants, but fret not, the pots has two sections each, so don’t worry too much if you can’t decide. They have a food bar which provides a variety of typical food you’d have in a steamboat. There is also a sushi section, but popular ones like the Salmon Sashimi will be gone the moment it refills, so be prepared. Now, the meat is awesome, no doubt about it. I just wished they have different parts of beef to choose from. Something like a choice of sirloin, ribeye, or tender chunks. After awhile, stuffing all those meat in your mouth gets boring. Overall, it is a good place for meat lovers and the price/pax isn’t that expensive. Do look out for promotions as I visited during one too(forgot which one).

Suki-Ya would be the James May to everyone’s Jeremy Clarkson; a second option, a second to the first, and the second to the last of everyone’s minds. Everyone would know Suki-Ya for its copious amounts of meat, but no one would really think of eating there unless their desired restaurant was full. A Japanese-stylized buffet restaurant, it offered up to four different soup bases, and there were up to four different meats to choose from. A little bar of many assorted vegetables and ingredients was set up specifically for the choosing of the eater. By now, you should notice the similarities to James May himself. Both valued freedom over anything else, but had a constraint for it. I, for one, liked both James May and Suki-Ya. However, if you want me to love this restaurant, you would have to give me a little bit more. For example, perhaps a little more edginess, like experimenting with different and assorted meats instead of the usual and dull variations of beef. Something like venison would suffice, and without a doubt, you would find the restaurant a little bit more interesting, and with the interest being hyped up to a certain extent would turn the interested to the best interest of the restaurant. Unless, of course, the restaurant could continue to be a James May, and possibly drive only Mercedes-Benz cars for the rest of its life.
