Carousell Malaysia Community Meet-Up is back with their first Community Social of the year 2016! Basically the purpose of the meet-up is come to say hi to the team, mingle, swap stories & tips with fellow Carousellers & just have a good time! We even brought back some leftover desserts! It’s my second visit here but been to other outlets before. Whenever I dropped by, I’d just had their desserts thus this is the first time I had their real meal ie. main dishes. Eventhough Simplyd is part of The Delicious Group but I think the food can’t be compared to Delicious. Personally I’d prefer having my lunch + dinner at Delicious. Therefore probably I’d stick to order only their desserts in future. Despite the lack of taste on the food, it was indeed a great experience + service & the staff were friendly too!!!

I love coming to the Nu Sentral outlet because of the staff. At one point was such a regular that despite forgetting my wallet stolen home, I was still served :). My favorites are the salted egg n pumpkin pasta, the eclairs, the peach n tangerine slush, the Vietnamese ice coffee, the pan Mee and the beef rib soup. Sometime they do forget salt and the granola has been stale a couple of times, but the attentiveness of the staff n their willingness to remedy the situation makes up for it.

Simply D is a fast casual restaurant located at Nu Sentral, a small shop around the corner opposite chatime. They sell Asian and Western fusion pasta. They have a variety of special kind of pasta. At simply D we can mix and match our own noodles and sauce. It can have a variety of sauce from dry tossed sambal to salted egg pumpkin and aglio olio. Seriously they have a lot of choices even for their noodle they have from linguine, angel hair, fusilli, spaghettini, soba noodles, flat white noodles and yellow mee. A nice place to dine in but not the best place to dine. Would recommend for people whoa re adventurous enough to try a special kind of pasta.

One of my favourite places to go to for a healthy salad in the area! I almost always order either the caesar salad which comes in a decent sized bowl, or they chicken and avocado wrap which, although tasty is always wrapped loosely so it becomes a messy meal. The wrap comes with fries and veggies on the side and makes for a satisfying meal. They serve free flow of complimentary water here; something I feel every restaurant in Malaysia should offer and NOT charge for mineral water as it is an essential element of life. But that’s a story for another day. Simply d also serve homemade ice cream and I’ve tried the raspberry sorbet which tasted so yum! It’s always packed during lunch hour from 1230pm to 2pm so I suggest coming earlier to get a table as space is very limited(small floor space) and there is only 2 tiny tables outside along the narrow walkway. The staff are friendly and efficient and food s brought out decently fast. Except to pay around 20−25RM per head for a good meal but you will definitely be satisfied!

I love simply D because I their dishes are really yummy and light! It doesn’t make you feel full and can’t even move from your chair, it is just the perfect amount of portion. I really like their sweet basil & cashew nut pesto(priced for Rm13.50), it is so yummy and really light. Try out their other menus as well like teriyaki salmon, roasted garlic & sundries tomato aglio olio. If you are not into pasta, they have burgers and wrap that can full fill your hunger more, like their classic beef mushroom, and please please try their lamb, humus & red pepper wrap. So good! They have also good ice cream to complete your meal experience here. They also have a bigger platter for groups like sandwich & salads platter(it is for 5 – 7 people for RM82.5 and consists of 2 smoked salmon sandwich, chicken avocado & pine nut wrap, veggie burger, 2 chicken club burger, herb avocado & toasted seed salad, big bowl of fries and coleslaw. How amazing is that. Perfect meal for mini party :) I am loving this place, expect the space was quite narrow that it is just don’t feel too comfortable eating in. But other that that, would definitely come here often.

Favorite lunch spot! CALLINGALLPESTOLOVERS!!! I am a HUGEFAN of pesto pasta. I found a new love here. Believe me not, when I say the food is good, it’s really GOOD. I have been going around places in search for the best pesto pasta and here I am, right in front of me. Try out their Grilled Chicken Pesto Pasta, if you are really crazy about pasta like me and experience being in heaven during your dining duration. Oh and to top that up, don’t forget to try their signature chicken avocado wrap. This is also reallyyy goooooddddd(because it’s pesto sauce too)! Sometimes they serve fries or chips as their side. It depends on stock availability I guess but I don’t mind at all! I love how they serve their pastas in bowls instead of plates :) It make things so simple, just like their name. Their interior is also pretty simple and cosy, it’s like a mixture of a vintage coffee shop but with a modern twist. They have desserts too! I haven’t actually try them out yet but when I have the excess calorie count one fine day, I WILLCOME! They also just launched a new card to stamp chops for every spendings of RM10. If you collected 5 chops, you get a free ice-cream, and 10 chops to get a free pasta! How cool is that? TRUSTME, you will never regret coming here. They always have a queue! I’m a little bit of a fanatic for this particular food choices here, so it may sound exaggerated to you. But #teampesto, you get what I mean :) ”

Jesus knows what’s up when I died upon devouring Simply D’s Sweet Basil & Cashew Nut Pesto Pasta. It was utterly scrumptious! Another factor that I liked about this restaurant is that they have vegan/vegetarian options. Talk about a real convenience. They also have Caesar salads and other vegan salads but I felt like upping the ante with a loads of carbs. Price range here isn’t so bad, you literally pay for what you eat! The serving sizes are large, plus they are generous with the helping. You can also add-on any sides of grilled meat to the vegan options if you wish. I also had this with a side of peppermint tea, which was refillable and soothing. At most restaurants and delis, you’d have to pay RM9 for teas like this, but here? I only paid RM5. I honestly can’t wait top come here again to try out their veggie burgers… and maybe the salad too. Because salad is life.

My colleague’s favourite place to go is Simplyd, this place is just EPIC! and they have MOROCCAN food once a week! They couldn’t have made me happier! I just love their dishes! I was never disappointed and I know I’ll never be! If you are hungry and don’t want to take a risk with some random dish then this is the place to go! There options are pretty awesome!

When I first saw the Strawberry Milkshake cake in the cake display I got really excited because I’ve never seen or heard of anything like it so we decided to get it. The cake itself was such a disappointment. Looks really are deceiving here. It was dry and crumbly and almost tasteless. The little flavor it did have was a faint artificial strawberry flavor. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the salted caramel milkshake was so good. Thick and creamy and it had the perfect Salted Caramel flavor. A pleasant surprise after the disappointment of the Strawberry milkshake cake. Lemonade was just average but a little on the sweet side. The outlet in Nu Central has high ceilings and has massive floor to ceiling windows so sunlight floods in so the actual outlet itself is a pretty nice hangout spot.

Fusion has never been my thing. I like my food and everything else to be as authentic as possible. So it was a rare chance when I tried Simply D, an eatery that pride itself entirely on fusion food. The place is as small as a pigeon hole, much reminded me of Japanese eateries. I ordered a pan mee, but instead of the usual noodles, I had to choose from a variety of pasta. While I applaud the idea of shaking things up by combining east and western cuisine, but the taste of the food is just below par. Perhaps next time I will just stick to the salads.

Another new concept restaurant by the delicious group. They allow you to mix and match your noodles here, be it pasta or soba, mushrooms or egg yolk. And oh did i mention egg yolk, i really liked that dish! This is a fast eat and go concept place as well, so everything is rather, literally simple — simply. You go to the counter and make your order, you get your food pretty quickly as well. Seats are rather limited here so you might not want to stay too long. They serve their homemade ice creams here and they always have different flavours on board — this means all are freshly made. Don’t miss out their Monday special priced coffee hours too when they’ll allow you to pay anything, and they mean it, from 10 cents, for your coffer. For students do get their student discount card, after all who doesn’t like discounts aye?

If you are in a hurry for a delicious breakfast or lunch, and you are in Avenue K, Nu Central or KLCC, you have to try this place. They have a big variety of salads, sandwiches and pastas. The food is cooked in a healthy way and they have the delivery service everywhere in KL. Even if the outlet from Nu Central is always full, you don’t have to wait a lot for your order. The staff is very fast and nice. They have seats inside and outside, so you can choose where to stay. The prices are very afordable.

This restaurant offers great value! With outlets in Avenue K, the Curve, Nu Sentral and, now, KLCC, Simply D has a great menu for a quick breakfast or lunch. The menu has a variety of breakfast options, including a great egg and cheese muffin, and — my favorite — avocado salad for lunch. The place is usually quite full, which is understandable considering the great value it offers, so, if you are in a hurry it’s good to take that into consideration before going there. The service, however, is really good, friendly and quick. One of the times I ate there they made a mistake in my order and offered me a free meal for the hassle. That is something I really appreciate when visiting a restaurant, the fact that they’ve made a mistake but took responsibility for it. In the Nu Sentral outlet there is seating inside and outside, and the place is quite nice.

Before the café invasion took over KL’s brunch scene, Delicious ruled over with their pastas and tantalising selection of desserts. Their latest quick lunch concept called Simply D is a genius idea, strategically positioned at Nu Sentral opposite the KL Sentral station and surrounding office blocks. Designed to be a compact version of Delicious, the restaurant plays on Delicious’s strength by offering pastas, salads and sandwiches. The interior takes on a bolder play of vibrant colours and typography giving it a modern casual vibe to fit its image. Though the menu is strictly western, Simply D has taken on several Asian flavours and incorporated them into their pasta such as the laksa and chilli chicken ‘pastamee’. The restaurant introduces a mix and match concept where you get to choose a range of Asian to western flavours to go with your choice of pasta. Add ons such as chargrilled chicken, smoked salmon and tea egg are also available at an extra cost to keep the prices low. My favourite was the salted egg pumpkin pasta which was a play on an east meets west flavour. The sprinkle of breadcrumbs on top of the pasta was a pleasant surprise to add some texture to the dish as I wasn’t expecting that for an express meal. The menu wasn’t too complicated and offer customers the variety they want without compromising. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not add a tea egg to your carbonara? I also liked how everything in the menu is made from scratch except the pasta so I don’t have to compromise on freshness and nutrition just because it’s an express meal.

One of the healthiest options for your lunch in NU Sentral! They have a great selection of super yummy salad. It is a great place to go around 14h, because it empties out. They offer some promo’s for menu deals. Their seating is inside and the atmosphere is nothing very special, but the service is great! Definitely try their pumpkin soup and Ranch salad. Most of the people enjoy this place, because their salads are not appetizers, but full meals. I haven’t had a chance to taste their desserts, but they look great! Another reason why I love this restaurant is that they deliver and the pricing is very reasonable !
