Northern Malaysia dishes anyone? Welcome to Rasa Utara.
A lot of the dishes here are rice based and some of the popular dishes include Laksa Kedah, Mee Soto, Udang Sambal Petai and Ayam Goreng Cili Lagenda and much more.
The staff is very friendly and helpful here and the menu is quite diverse. A lot of dishes include fish as one of the main ingredients but you have many other options to choose from. They also have tea time sets with some pretty yumy snacks or some nasi rasa utara options.
Their prices are very affordable so if you want to try some local food but from a different region than this is your spot.

I found this store the other day when I was passing through Midvalley. I decided to check the place because I love trying new places from time to time.
I believe that when it comes to great-​tasting food, Malaysia is indeed a gastronomical haven. And this restaurant, you can have some of the best dishes all under one roof! The name of the restaurant is translated as «taste of the north», and Rasa Utara offers a wide selection of authentic and delicious Northern Malaysian cuisine, as well as culinary creations from all other states in the country. They also have delicious deserts and drinks, which will complete your experience here.
My favourite dish here is the Ayam Goreng Lagenda which is an authentic recipe of crispy fried chicken flavoured with chili paste and sauteed onions.
The staff is very friendly and smily, and I like the fact that the food is served fast. I will definitely check this restaurant again, because the menu has a diversity of dishes.

First time in Malaysia? this is the right place to explore Malaysian cuisine! sit back and enjoy the tastes! try to order seafood dishes! Malaysia has amazing seafood cuisines which you wouldn’t get enough of!
The service is good and the food is very traditional and full of local spices. you can enjoy it with close friends and family, the atmosphere is good, the noise is low compare to some other open restaurants.

It’s a little known fact that I was born in Alor Setar, Kedah. I tell people I’m Brazilian. They believe me. But truth be told, I’m an ‘oghang utagha.” We have a very close-​knit family and growing up I’ve always been accustomed to northern delicacies because of my late grandmother. She cooks the best of pretty much everything. Sigh I miss her. She even taught me how to cook my very first Ayam Rempah.
My late grandmothers most famous dish was her Laksa Kedah. If our family had our way, we would consume them by the barrels. It’s the perfect combination of taste, smell and taste… I had to say taste twice because it was THAT good. Now the recipe has been passed down to my aunties and they do a fairly good job at it.
Now lets get back to the restaurant, the interior was a little too simple and bleak for my taste. I was hoping the food would compensate for the lack of interior decorating skills. It wasn’t quite there yet. They could improve immensely on both fronts I think. I had the Laksa of course but I’m a bit biased to my late grandmothers outstanding cooking skills and think that there was something missing in the broth. I cant quite put my finger on it but if I were to bring my aunties along, they would now what is missing.
The service was considerably fast and pleasant, all in all I would give it a 3 out of 5. The two stars is because you don’t have to drive all the way to Kedah to experience the food.

Rasa Utara just seems so fresh and inviting from the outside!
I was definitely expecting Western food jus from the look at the restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised that they actually offer Malaysian cuisine. And not just any Malaysian — but the Nothen Malay food!
Yes The dishes you have to try are rice based so you must check out their Nasi Lemak and Nasi Wangi.
Be prepared for some 1^st class service and very relaxing and calm ambience.
You will definitely enjoy your dinner here :)
