If your not planning to have an early lunch or in time for brunch, you better be ready to wait! This restaurant is known for its long que lines & waiting list. Fong Lye Tea house, is an oriental Taiwanese restaurant serving Taiwanese & Chinese food with a twist. Here they are known for their set meals which is basically made out of a appetizer platter(hot & cold vegetables), a small bowl of rice, herbal soup of the day & the main dish. Expect to pay about rm 16 – 20 minimum for a set meal not including taxes & service charges. I tried the chicken with scallion sauce meal(RM19++) which was similar to the hainanese steamed chicken in the chicken rice shop. The meat was tender & flavorful, the pickled vege quite similar to kimchi was delightful and went pretty well with the whole meal. I did ask for some more & surprising enough I was not charged for it. As for sides, we tried their recommended sweet potato balls. I wasn’t a big fan of this one as i found it abit to oily. Nonetheless I’d definitely come back to have a go on the noodles.

Very good Taiwanese chinese cuisine they serve here! Prices of set meals here are all around rm25−30, you might find it on the slightly pricey side but wait till your food is served and you’d think that it’s worth it. Very big portion foods and usually my girl friends will not be able to finish their portions. They come with side dishes too, and with some sets come with their soup, which is actually really good and they added a lot of ingredients in it. They do serve chinese tea in pot and flower tea in pot here, which is ideal to be shared while catching up. Only bad thing is that their tables here are arranged quite close to each other, so you might feel less privacy while having your dinner. Also, they do not take credit cards here, so make sure that you bring enough cash with you!

Fong Lye serves authentic Taiwanese food and they serve food with a very homecooked feel. I really loved their egg with tomato and their fish head. The price is affordable and the food comes at a reasonable pace. Also, the staff are very warm and friendly.

Fong lye is one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in town I would think. They have very good dishes like the chicken, the seafood pot, the noodles and such. They come in a rather decent set meal. It’s pretty filling, more than enough for one person. I would suggest sharing if you don’t have a big appetite. The queue for this restaurant during peak hours are crazy. They would give you a number and the wait time varies, might take 10 – 20 minutes. The service is incredible though, the waiters and waitresses are extremely quick on their feet.

Fong Lye has been here for ages and it seems it will not be going away anytime soon. In fact they have even opened a sister branch next door, Fong Lye Fusion. I’ve always been a fan of Taiwanese ever since the discovery of Shihlin, the taiwanese snack shop. With Fong Lye, you get a more extensive taste of what Taiwanese cuisine is about. Although, their menu is filled with interesting options, I find myself coming back for their Pork Intestines Stew. Doesn’t sound very appetising I know, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere else or anywhere as good. Spicy and sour, it gives good kick to your senses. As with most of the dishes here, it comes with small side dishes and rice. I love that their side dishes changes frequently. The only issue I have with this place is that sometimes, we get seated uncomfortably close to another group of diners. I just can’t help but eavesdrop on them. Also, lunchtime is just crazy, so don’t come here if you’re absolutely starving and expect to be seated and served right away. But the lunch crowd tends to thin out towards two.

Fong Lye is a Taiwanese restaurant and I absolutely love it. It can get pretty busy during peak hours, as with every restaurant at the Gardens and Mid valley. Food here is good, I like that the have ala carte and sets, a set would come with a main dish of your choosing, rice, soup and some little condiments to go along with it. I find the food here to be flavorful and portions sizes are good too so we usually share. The ambiance is so-so mainly cause its always so busy hence noisy. Pricing wise its above average but so is the food so who’s complaining right? Service is very good, the staff are ample and very alert. Food is served fast and piping hot which i appreciate. This may sound silly but i think they have the best tea’s ever. My all time favorite is the jasmine-oolong tea. So so yummy but if I drink too much I geta migraine, so sadly my limit is 3 cups. I would definitely return soon to try more of the food, although i’ve already tried most of the menu, there is still some uncharted waters.

Just as i thought i was getting bored of chinese food, It was crowded in here so i took a weekday to try the food here, there are two sides, one is the ala carte you order and another is when you order sets. I usually come here and eat for occasions only via reservations because of the efficient service and the food, i recommend you to try the sets instead of Ala Carte because the sets are more worth it Choose any from the main course, everything is nice. The burst of saucy and spicy flavors of asian cooking similar to chinese food. is the use of ingredients like ginger, soy sauce or spring onions.
