Café barbera is located in one of the bungalow houses along lorong maarof. I visited this place when I went for my first ‘toastmasters’ gathering. The toastmasters of bangsar meet there on a weekly basis. They use the function room at the back area for the meeting & later on we had our dinner at the porch area. I get the concept they were going for but I didnt really fancy it, the place looked quite dull & unkept. The toilets were smelly & it was full of mosquitoes. Moreover, the staff were not all that attentive. For that particular day, they order 2 types of pizza’s, sandwiches & cordial juice. The pizza was tasty but it was all cold by the time we ate since they did pre-order. I would rate the food to be 3⁄5. To be honest I didnt see many people dining there either so im guessing the crowd is mainly from events or group functions. Not my cup of tea for sure.

Café Barbera is a quaint café situated within walking distance from the Bangsar LRT station. I used to come here regularly about 2 years ago, but hadn’t been back there for nearly a year. Since I study in Bangsar now, I thought I’d go have lunch with one of my friends here and introduce her to one of my favourite cafes. We were there last Friday and were the only customers there at around 12pm. The place didn’t seem as warm or welcoming as it did a year ago. The service was so-so because eventhough we were the only ones there, it was always a challenge to get the waiter’s attention. I think our server was a trainee because he didn’t seem very familiar with the menu and brought my friend the wrong drink. He also was very unsure when we asked him what their popular dishes are. Even the quality of the food seems to have deteriorated slightly. The pasta I ordered had such a strong onion taste that I didn’t enjoy eating it at all. My friend’s pizza was nothing special either. It was a bit bland, not much flavour to it and the tomatoes on it should have been cut into smaller, easier to eat chunks. I ordered a Ferrero Rocher milkshake of some sort and was quite surprised when I received it. It’s a unique drink for sure, but not worth the money at all. There’s barely anything to drink once you get through the whipped cream and peanuts. Basically, the overall experience wasn’t great. I felt a bit embarrassed to have brought my friend there because I knew she didn’t enjoy the food either. You could probably get better food somewhere else for the prices they’re charging.

This café cater to a lot of company events. There is a huge space outside and inside of the restaurant. They have a prepared menu for catering and such. It’s a pretty nice environment and ambience in the café. They serve pretty decent food all priced about 20rm which in my opinion is pretty alright. People would usually go there during tea times to have some light snacks. The café isn’t too hard to spot because it’s pretty huge in Bangsar. Parking is pretty easy to spot as they have parking right outside of the café. Service is pretty good here, they have pretty decent waiters who are attentive.

The two times that I’ve been here are for events. One would be my friends birthday celebration and the other would be my companies dinner. I’ve had a great time here on both occasions. We had the whole place to ourselves during the company dinner and they are very accomodating to whatever we’ve requested for. The food is good and they made sure everyone of us are well taken care of. The staffs are friendly and well-versed. The toilet is limited to only 2 cubicles but they are really big and spacious inside. The parking space in the compound is limited and very hard to manuevre around so I would suggest you to park by the road side instead. The whole building is very nicely decorated and I love how it actually looks an old English building.

According to the waiter, this halal Italian hangout has been around for at least 10 years. It is by the same people who runs Brahim’s spices, and its located at Lorong Maarof, the same stretch as Maybank, UOA Bangsar and Grind22. Food wise, what we had wasn’t on the menu simply because we were using vouchers from a group buying website. We had lamb chop which came a bit tough but the mash potato was super delicious. I had something that was called Chicken parcel — which was supremely delicious and i wish they had it in their everyday menu. Our coupon also included desserts and scones. If you are intrigued to try for lunch, they have Asian cuisines like nasi lemak with sambal prawn or nasi daging or laksa or nasi goreng Bhrahim’s — each at RM15 per set that comes with a drink. Their standard menu is mostly Italian inspired dishes like bruchetta, pasta and a variety of pizzas. For the pasta, they have Simply Carbonara RM22, Sicilian Bolognese RM22, and Vongole on spaghetti RM24. For entrees, they have Old Fashioned Beef Steak RM58, Italian Salmon Affair RM42 and more. Will be back one day to try out the rest of the menu and their Lava Cake looks delectable. Interior wise, it’s photogenic in every corner. It is indeed well decorated and has its quirky flair and comfortable too.
