Woke up at 5am and want to buy ingredient to prepare 3 meals a day for your family? But where to go? You can go to Pasar Boring at Selayang Lama, usually you see housewife and senior old folks will appear at the wet market whien even the sun hasn’t raise yet. You can get wholesale price for your vegetables. fish and chicken also others. they often negotiate with you all the time on selling the fish or something else you are looking for. There is people mainly want to go to super market, but Pasar Borong is the main place for supplier to buy what they want to sell for a whole sale price. The wet market might be wet and dirty, people swearing around to continue working since swearing to workers friends can kill some time off. But the freshness of the food itself is more fresh compare with NSK Malaysia.

We have been wanting to come here for 3 years but honestly, just didn’t have the push needed to wake up at 6.30 am to make the trip. Thanks to the recently implemented GST, we finally got the push we had been waiting for. Haha. We had high hopes of being out the door by 6.30 am but it was closer to 7.00 am when we finally left home. Got there about 7.20 am(not too bad considering we are based in Mont Kiara). The carpark was huge and cost RM2. As the earlier crowd probably left around the time that we got there, we managed to get parking quite close to the market itself. As we entered the huge establishment, I wondered if it was obvious we were noobs. Had an embarrassing conversation with the guy who sold us lemongrass. I had wanted a stalk of 3, and he told me the whole big bunch was RM2.50 and it would be difficult to calculate just for a stalk. RM2.50? I was jumping for joy. That’s how much it costs for a stalk at Village Grocer! I told myself right there and then, we needed to come here more often. The produce was incredibly fresh and so were the fish. We spent half the amount we would usually spend at Village Grocer and got twice the amount. My only reservation was with the chicken as I wasn’t sure if they were antibiotics free. Wasn’t too sure how to go about asking the seller either, so maybe that’s something to consider for those of you going there in the future. The verdict? We need to get a freezer so we can buy more!
