Best asam laksa on the island. Heck, probably the world because where else can beat Penang for asam laksa? It was hands down my favorite meal during the trip. It may seem quite the trek here but make the day trip out of it. We went to Kek lok si temple and it’s literally on the way to the temple. Wash the asam laksa down with fresh sugar cane juice from the next stand. So good!

5 stars for taste. 3 stars for ambience hence I averaged it out. Hands down that this is the best Assam laksa in the world. Famous and survived the test of time for decades. This place has been around for a long time and the crowds keep coming. Soup flavours are complex and filled with delicious fish pieces. Prawn paste adds depth to the otherwise, sour’ish soup. Perfect ratio of spongy noodles, pineapple, mint leaves, cucumber, onion and green vegetables. Prices have been going up steadily the last few years. A small now will cost you RM4.50. A pretty penny compared to before but standard compared to food dishes. I recommend buying it to-go. You will get your order quicker and will not have to endure the heat and the incredible crowds in the small space(and limited number of tables). Stay if you’d like to get the ‘local’ experience but I personally prefer to get it to-go

Im sure everyone else have described the location, the food and everything else to a T. My 2 cents is that I really like this place a lot. I have been going here for years though last year it had tasted less than spectacular. Maybe it was an off day or what not but I’m willing to give them another chance.

One of the Best Asam Laksa in Malaysia! To be fair I am never a fan of Asam Laksa’s, This Asam Laksa stall that is located at Pasar Air Itam produces one of the Malaysia’s best Asam Laksa. Almost every time after visiting Kek Lok Si Temple which is really nearby this stall, while on the way back from the temple, my parents will always«tapau» a few packets of Asam Laksa to be enjoyed back in the hotel. Judging from the amount of Laksa Noodles on the table that is ready to be cook and serve is truly an awesome sight! As you are walking near this stall, you would immediately smell the shrimp paste(«Hae Kor») broth soup, so good you can practically taste it with your nose!(Hahaha a little exaggerated but true!). Other than that, my other half have tried their Asam Laksa and even she finds it one of the best Asam Laksa she’s ever tasted, which is a clear testament that this is one of the best Asam Laksa stalls in the nation. Apparently this stall is even rated as one of the top Asian cuisine by CNN Travels. Now that’s an achievement!

They serve the best Asam Laksa in the world! The price is cheap and the food comes very quickly. the noodles are very spongy and the soup is one of the best! They add lots of fish and pineapple in their asam laksa, which tastes really delicious! This store is hugely popular for it’s asam laksa, so you might want to arrive before the crowd does!

This is hands down the best laksa I have ever tasted, and I’m not even a fan of laksa in general. If you come to Penang, it is almost a travesty if you do not make a pilgrimage to this place located about 5 minutes from the Kek Lok Si temple complex. Although it’s nothing much to look at, they serve up the richest bowl of laksa you will ever have. It is located at Jalan Pasar just beside the wet market area and the noodles come drenched in a fish based broth topped with chives, mint leaves cucumber, shredded mackerel, thick prawn paste(ha-ko) and thick rice noodles. All of this for a very reasonable price. If you’re worried about whether the laksa might cause you to be thirsty, do not fret as there is sugarcane juice stall just next to the laksa stall where a glass of sweet cooling juice will cost only RM1.50. In the stall’s vicinity is also a ‘tong sui’(sweet dessert drink) stall and a lady selling the most flaky and crispy fried popiah I have ever tasted.
