For years I’ve been aiming to go into Sea Guardian II – on the ground floor in the original part of the Hotel New Grand – and last night, I finally made it. It’s a very intimate, classy (in an old-​fashioned, overstuffed leather chairs kind of way) lounge-​style bar with over-​the-​top upscale service and somewhat over-​the-​top prices.
If you’re into 30-​year-​old whiskey at 90,000 yen a class, or if you value incredibly formal, old-​fashioned service over reasonable prices, then this is your place. Otherwise, you might want to look elsewhere. Myself? I am glad I finally went but I doubt I’ll be back.
Bonus: Non-​smoking (as is the whole building outside designated areas).
